Has the Rural Highway Set been officially released?  That would be nice.

Here's the current city I'm working on for an upcoming CJ...I jumped the gun a little putting this together, so it will change by the time the Journal is ready.  You may be able to tell how the rest of this tile will fill out...until then, just thought I'd share.  Ideas, suggestions, criticisms welcomed and encouraged.

40 yrs, just under 10,000 residents.  The "test" was to see if a city could function forcing Sims to take mass transit thoroughfares.  Looks to be working so far, but double or triple the population and there could be trouble.

First is an overview:

Second shows the RHW which doesn't show up a transportation Map. Its the gray that runs up the middle of my map:

I was just having fun here:

Pine%20Gulf-Feb.%2026%2C%20001166658226.

I'm not really good with road designation terminology, so call this what you want.

TORONTO, ON

This is an accurate representation of the intersection of Highway 401 & Allen Rd.  Hwy 401 runs east-west with express and collector lanes.  Allen Rd [Allen (formerly Spadina) Expressway] runs north-south with an at-grade subway line (Spadina-line) running down the center of the roadway.  Also in the picture are a power-center south of Wilson and the northern-part of Yorkdale Mall with the parking lot re-developed into an office park.

PS  There is no traffic yet at this intersection because the 401 is not complete except at this intersection.

After doing 60 or so "+" and "T" style custom interchanges , I wanted to see if I could do a "++."

The hard part was to figure out all the exit ramps connecting to each highway in all directions without creating a single weave.

Scrap104: Wow, that looks great! Could you post a night picture of that one? 9.gif

Btw, you seem to have some problems with people abandoning their homes and offices though,,.. :S

Maby you are too heavily relied on those motorways to get people around, which doesn't seem to work perfectly...

Anyhoo, great experiment, it is a good looking ++ 2.gif

take care,

My roads are nowhere near as complex as some of the stuff you guys are churning out (most of which I wouldn't like to drive on might I add), but it's still a relatively small city of 200.000. I'm working on a more eye-pleasing network in what's going to be my downtown area, so I'm here to get some inspiration. Here two of my screens:

Here's a shot of my main highway heading into downtown (future downtown, no developement yet 3.gif).  On the right is the main highway as it is heading towards the CBD.  The highway exiting to the left goes directly into the downtown, and the highway exiting to the top goes to the neighborhood north of downtown.

First of all, you guys are all amazing. Give yourself a pat on the back, you deserve it.

I've been trying to work at a concept where rail = roads, and 2 lane elevated rail = Highway

So here's someting that I made:
testtrackjan20011840364cx6.png

I like how it looks, but now I don't know how I should develop around it. Dunno If I should put skyscrapers, or a massive commercial area. What do you guys think?

It looks a bit over the top and unnecessarily complex, but it's awesome! 3.gif

So people heading from the north east corner can only go south and east, and not west. People traveling east or west can go any direction, which is good. But you need to fix the top two NE/NW corners so they can travel west and east respectively.
