you dont root for a Japanese team?

Nah, I've been rooting for Detroit since forever.

Nice

going to a Japanese baseball game is one of the things i want to do if i visit Japan.

I used to tell my students that I loved the smell of American ballparks.  They were surprised, apparently Japanese ballparks don't all smell of freshly grilled hot dogs and/or popcorn.  If you go, go to Osaka and see a Tigers game.  They are the best fans in Japan, and they travel really well.

Poor Detroit (they so had it coming, though, they were probably the stinkiest of the playoff teams this year).  Oh well, at this point I hope the Orioles win, they were my Dad's favorite team growing up, and I can't stomach the thought of rooting for any of the other remaining teams.

Osaka Tigers?

Osaka Tigers?

Hanshin Tigers.  Hanshin is the name of a railway conglomerate who owns them.  Most of the teams have company names instead of geographic names, like Yomiuri Giants, Softbank Hawks, Rakuten Eagles, Orix something or others, DeNA Bay Stars, Lotte Marines, etc.  I think the Hiroshima Carp might be the only team called its location.

I can't bring myself to root for the Royals in the ALCS.  If they advance, though, I really, REALLY hope they beat whoever the NL sends.  Screw the Giants and the Cardinals, dude.

I'm rooting for Baltimore.  Otherwise, I don't like either NL team.

Baltimore has been eliminated in the ALCS. Kansas City will face the NLCS winnier.

Personally, it's down to teams I don't like. Again. The last team i rooted for was the 2012 Tigers.

Well, KC has a team name any loyal subject of Her Majesty can live with.

Good.  The crybaby Cardinals have to watch the Series at home while they cry in Mommy's skirts.  Never in all of my 50 years have I seen a team whine and cry as much as the Cardinals do.  Good riddance to them as they would have choked anyways just like last year.

Wow. Kinda harsh. Anyway, I'm not a fan of either team, so my season ended when the O's got eliminated.

Game 1 is on Teusday at Kauffman Stadium,Kansas City.

I usually don't watch this series until after Game 3.  No excitement if it is just getting ready for the real possibility of an elimination.

There's no excitement at all if the Tigers aren't playing in it.

EDIT: Hanshin Tigers are in the Japan Series, though, so at least there's that.

Id like to see a  series between the Japanese Champions and the  world series winners.

Big Tigers fan here and was shattered by their performance in the ALDS but it was expected that the bullpen would let them down. The more heartbreaking thing is that if they were able to get past Baltimore, then as dominating as KC have been, Detroit was the one team they really struggled to beat all year and KC was the one team Detroit really had no trouble with.

Before the playoffs started I thought we'd probably get past Baltimore in a tough series but probably have to face the Angels and wouldn't make it out of the ALCS. The fact that KC swept the Angels just rubs salt in the wound of not making it past the ALDS.

In any event, I'm rooting for KC in the World Series. They've been an exciting team all year, played the right way and been fun to watch so it would be good to see their cinderella story have a happy ending. Was hoping they'd face St Louis though, a Missouri rivalry would have been fun and I don't like the Giants.

Unfortunately for the Deadbirds, truth hurts.  As for who's going to win the Series, KC all the way.  Be nice to see a sweep of the Giants.

And now for a bit of mathematics fun:

The World Series has 70 different possible outcomes.  Assuming a Giants win tonight--which seems likely--the probability of the Giants winning their third World Series in 5 years rises to 71.4 percent.  If they win game 2, the odds rise to 92.9 percent.  If you're Ned Yost, odds are high that you are incredibly worried about winning game 2 right now.

San Francisco has won game 1.  They have 3 games to win to take the series title.

Game 6 is tonight in Kansas City. If the Giants win, they've won it all.

Game 7 of the World Series.  Whoever wins takes all.  Last time this happened was 2011, when St Louis defeated Texas in 7 games.

Anyway, I don't know what to expect.  I have no prediction.  It's been so unpredictable, that I don't even know what to think.  At the start of the month, everyone was thinking "Anaheim/Los Angeles, Anaheim/Washington, Baltimore/Los Angeles, Baltimore/Washington"  No one was saying "Kansas City/San Francisco"

    And the winner is........

The San Francisco Giants! They won by a final of 3-2, with KC's winning run 90 feet away. Anticipation at its finest. Giants are champions for the 3rd time since 2010, concluding baseball for this year.

Breaks the 'win the series in game 7 at home' streak.  KC should have won.  Well, its for the stats books now.
