You are an urban freak, from what I've seen of you, Uncrazycooper13, .

I think you should start considering subway, or monorail, or elvated rail. It will reduce commute times. This CJ recieves an A from me. You have meticulously zoned better than even I have ever done, and specialized neighborhoods, not city's. Great read!

Nick.

The skill you have displayes indicates time spent painstakingly on concentration. A serious city builder indeed. How is that for suburban sprawl, I likee indeed!

Thanks again for the wonderful comments everyone.  My whole vision started out as urban sprawl, with metro areas spaced in key landform areas of the region, and its working pretty well so far.  No major traffic problems, except in one of the downtown avenues.  I built a subway system to counteract this, with main lines runnin through downtown, and a couple to the industrial park.  I have topped out demand for R$ and R$$ and about halfway for R$$$, commercial is skyrocketing, and industrial demand is not that great, considering the new construction in Coralville.

Nick, dont bash cooper2.gif Simsite hosting is supposed to have a city exchange, if you ask nicely, maybe dolfan would upload the region for you3.gif

For ugly sprawl, this is a prety good CJ. it's looking good, especially the CBD along the river. you should work on the subur-rural transition, though, they just kind of end. If you can improive that, the realism factor would go up2.gif

I realize sub-rural transition is the one thing i lack badly.  I am going to start looking heavily through city journals soon to see how the best of the best do it 2.gif

no just kidding. Cooper: calm down, we might become friends.

Me and Vid are kinda friends, we know each other better than any 2 people know each other on this site, and we can always predict what the other will say, And we are always bickering, lol. Either that, or bringing up past memories, from elsewhere.

Dolphin, this is the best CJ I've ever sen, I just can't believe it. Have you ever seen Amarillo's west side. It kinda ends really abruptly.

Hey, Vid! You didn't call me Nickie!!!

Dolphin, you might start sparsely adding neighborhoods, and fill in the blanks when the city gets bigger. Use retail and high tech to provide nearby jobs out in those boonies/suburbs.

Alright, here we are.  I just have a nice little update on Coralville.  Not the regional overview i promised, but that will come next time for sure.  Coralville has now pushed over 200,000 residents, which is about the only major news i have to report.  Check out the pictures and their captions for more details.

    coralvillebeachdownt3hq.jpg
Here we have what the residents refer to as the twin towers.  They barely pass for middle wealth dwellings.  The city, in its current state, is considering demolishing all of the riverfront buildings to make room for an amusement park/beach front resort.  It is still in the early planning; if to even happen at all.

    coralvilleomnihotelstadiumeast.jpg
Located here, just off Admiral Avenue, is the 5-story tall statue of the mayor, Coralville's most popular hotel, The Omni, and the Coralville Chameleons soccer team home field.

    coralvillebasketballapartments.jpg
Many of the city's old fashioned apartment complexes are being overtaken by more modern, and study structures.

    coralvillewallstreetresdowntow.jpg
Here is wall street named for its skyscraping buildings virtually forming a wall.  This is a recent development project that was uptaken by the city's vast architecture team.

    coralvillewestcomgreenery6dn.jpg
One of the more beautiful parts in the entire region.

    coralvilleres22dt.jpg
The majority of non-downtown residential is extremely rich like this.

    coralvillecrossbarsquare3sg.jpg
Another architectural masterpiece by the city's team.

    coralvillebridgemarina9nl.jpg
And finally, we have the main focus of the downtown, the I-80 bridge (the I-74/I-80 interchange is west of the bridge).  The marina is a favorite gathering spot on Sunday afternoons.

That's quite a nice update, Dolfan. The towering beachfront apartments remind me of Chicago or Miami. Great job! 44.gif

Hi Dolfan, met you the day before in the chat room...anyways, just want to post a comment on your CJ. I know I don't have the game myself, but from what I'm seeing, everything looks really neat. I really like your idea of separating tall buildings from mixing in with the small houses. It makes things look organized. Well, don't give up on the hard work, because I'll be checking back every so often and see what further development you'll be making.43.gif

I have a nice small update on the new town of unduria. I have painstakingly worked on the transportation systems alone, for about an hour, trying to get them to cater to the way im going to develop the rest of the region. Heres what I ended up with.

    unduriafinishpretimerun4rg.jpg
Here we have the city, as set up, completely zoned, before any time has been run. Highways bypass the city on the east and northern sides, and continue north and south, respectively. On the side of the highway, opposite the main city, only industry is allowed to be zoned. Monorail runs south-eastern and north-eastern to the city, and leads through the industrial park, and into Coralville. Passenger rails start at the north-western edge of the city, and continue north. These will mainly serve the farmers of the future in the city.

    unduriagrown3zc.jpg
The city, all grown up now, utilizes an odd transportation setup. While odd, it gives residents 4 different ways to travel throughout the region. Farmers from other states are pushing to get zonng passed, with the city's fertile grounds to the west.

    undurianewoutzoom5ly.jpg
Another zoom out shot. You can see the industry starting to develop northeast of the city.

Enjoy the Christmas update! Exclusive close-ups coming next time!

    Leave a comment please! 35.gif

Brilliant region - amazing attention to detail - one thing though - Industry on a hilltop 9think of how low the property prices would become!

This journal has experienced a long absence....time to show a small bit of a change. Here is a section of downtown as it currently stands.
