Single-tile roadtop bus/subway combo. If that would work, since I know they say sims must have one tile between to switch from one mode of transit to another.

Mad Hollander, Thunderman

Ooookaaaaayy, I 'm beginning to feel that I may have caused us to go slightly off-topic here.

Being one wanting the last word though (and probably not getting it :-) )

If you go to maps.google.com and select satellite view, Rotterdam is one of the few Dutch cities which is visible at full detail level.
On there, you will see that the Sand tracks for the A4 extension northward are already lying there, and have been now for 35 years.... (Which would already have been known to you madhollander) How long could it take to put a stretch of Asfalt over it?

If we want to discuss our (Dutch) road interest further, I suggest we start a new topic altogether or make personal replies to eachother

grtz,

Jerommeke

ah, ok, didnt know that about pijnacker, It's what i was told by people living in ommoord, they should have slammed it straight trough the eendekooi though, hunting sucks 26.gif

@ Jerommeke,
Not to long, if they clear out the grass n stuff theyll find the concrete basefoundation under it, clear it, lay it, line it, Guardrail it, done 37.gif

but okay, lets get back on topic, (if you open a new dutch road system topic, put a link here, a big board is nice, but quite confusing for me, waaaaay to many options to place a topic for my likings 41.gif )

soo, ontopic

Anyone got tha Straight highway on slope puzzlepiece done already? 44.gif17.gif

@ Jerommeke:
personally i don't really see the use of the highway interchange you want, why the hell would you only connect 3 of the 4 directions with eachoter ?

Well actually, I've thought of adding at-level (terrain) puzzlepieces like straight road & others, but not for those reasons but rather, for development near/along beach-like area, where the normal drawing/dragging tools don't allow you to build the network because it's to low, depsite being land.

The purpose or reason you're wanting to use them for; from limited tests I've done, tunnels actually tend to stop functioning properly when a network of any kind (this includes PedMallTiles) is placed on the tiles immediately next to a tunnels entrance/exit between the entrance & exit.

In the last months, mainly new puzzle pieces were created by re-texturing and re-pathing existing models. No larger true3D models were added. Isn't here anyone who can create models for new interchanges, elevated railway stuff and so on?

Has there been any thougth into adding slip ramp puzzle pieces so we can have ramps exiting highways, especially sunken highways. It is impossible to create realistic interchanges with sunken highways the peices just aren't there or the best ones wee have sink the surrounding area.

thanks

I would like this version of a cloverleaf:

(This is the intersection of I 440 / US 1 / US 401 in Raleigh NC)
<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//aa1.jpg align=baseline>

US 401 south goes into downtown Raleigh NC
I 440 is the beltline around the city
US 1 & 401 north
Goes to North Raleigh & US 1 - 401 split - Wake Forest via US 1 / Louisville via US 401

sorry if someone suggested this already:   any thought of making highway on-slope puzzle pieces and the like?    they would be, of course, for highways going over roads/avenues/streets

Does anyone else think we should make up a list of things that have been tried and failed (or are in progress) to reduce the number of people who keep asking for highway and el-rail onslope pieces (and other things that they should not be asking for)?

I think we rather should make a list of people who are showing at least some interest in really doing something, instead only requesting numerous stuff. 2.gif The problem is: There are so many ideas, but basically only a handful of people who actually contribute something to the NAM at the moment (ArkenbergeJoe, GoaSkin, frimi2, smoncrie, Swamper77, to name a few). When this situation does not change, there is no need for compiling a huge list of useful and not so useful requests. Writing a list of what currently is in the works is ok, but everything else IMO wouldn't help.

Schmuck,

It has been suggested and attempted. There are some problems with making it work properly. Smoncrie is the only person that is working on it, I think.

*I'd like to chime in with a request...*

What about BATed puzzle pieces, for sunken networks, i.e. prefabricated sunken highways, avenues or rails?

Advantages being simple, ease of use (no terraform required), consistent look across the network (Because interchanges etc would be part of the same pack, there wouldn't be any 'jagged overpass' cases). Lack of greenspace and excellent nightlighting would be two aesthetic advantages.

The sunken network could be an extension to the elevated NAM one, i.e. having elevated and submerged transit networks in the contents menu. Possibly with the integration of both like el-rail and subway?

I'm no modder so I am unsure of the feasibility, but it's an idea I just had which I'd like to share

I didn't see this in the present request post at the start of the thread so:

Create on/off ramps for underground highway.  That way, we can use the hole digger lots to create underground highway systems and then place an avenue or some other road on the ground running perpendicular to the highway and build an on/off ramp at the junction.

Thanks

<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//T-Junction%20example.bmp width=400 align=baseline>Would this be a possibility? We get them quite a lot in the UK.

And this? I'd like a 1-way split. A merge and Highway Trumpet/Y-Intersections would also be cool<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Splirt.JPG width=302 align=baseline>

Here's something seemingly simple. Highway puzzle pieces. Like the ones you get for roads and avenues (ground highway over rail, over road the slope transition pieces etc.). Without them it's difficult to make railways in cuttings that cross over ground Highways, the game wants to put the railway on a flyover even though it's lower than the Highway & was there first.
Or am I being dumb, is there something in the NAM bits for this?

We really need two lane exits and interchanges as well, because it looks so bad just having one lane for 5000 cars!

It looks so unrealistic having all those cars exiting through one lane...
