Can anyone make this? This is the circle stack interchange on I787 in Albany, NY.

WOAH!!! I just now realized that you could do that with the new version of the NAM. Man, I have to redesign again, lol 2.gif

Can anybody create 45°-curves and diagonal puzzle pieces for the elevated NAM railway puzzle pieces?
quote>

As with diagonal road/onewayroad/avenue puzzle pieces, I am intent on doing the same for rail. It's just not being done straight away (the same thing occured with orthogonal puzzle pieces). If someone else wanted to do them though, or the modelling aspect of it anyhow, I certainly would have no objections to it.

I can't run BAT because it's not usable in virtual machines (the program recognizes that there is no native Windows).

It is hard to explain people with good BAT-experience how to export proper 3D models so everything I did in the past is based on existing models.

That make's 4 of us. In Ontario, Canada these are common when two highway are running the same direction and one terminates at the other highway. Eg Highway 401/402 in London and 401/403 in Woodstock!

Here's hoping for this kind of interchange 2.gif

how about on-slope pieces for AVENUES? has this been requested yet? would be really nice for making sunken highway overpasses. how about a 3-way stack interchange, like the t-interchange, but stacked lanes to take up less space, possibly in a y-split configuration as well?

I would like to see single-sided one-way on/off ramps that go to the inside of a multi highway.

I'm not sure if this has ever been done in real life or anything, but I would love to see it in SC4.

This is somewhat similar to several left-exit diamonds on I-290 in Chicago. The exit/entrance ramps are right next to each other (just actoss the divider), and therefore form one intersection on the cross street, making this a variation on the SPUI. Left-exits, however, are frowned upon nowadays.

can those annoying popups be disabled asking whether the mayor wants to buid avenue-over-road passes, road-over-street passes, road-over-rail passes... They are really annoying, especially when one is building a large grid with avenues and roads. Thanks!

furthermore, Id like to see those diagonal highway intersections too!

You must be using a really old NAM version 19.gif (as old as a year old possibly). Autopromting for those overpasses you mention hasn't been a part of the NAM for quite some time, nor is it supported anymore, & if you have it still it should be removed.

I would like to see more different styles of bridges--especially for the monorail and EL rail.

Those level roads, suspensions, and trestles are getting old.  I would like to see curved trestles, bridges like the NYC George Washington Bridge, or even the proposed Strait of Gibraltar bridge .  I've seen them all and have just about gotten bored.

I'd like to request an at-grade (or, for better term, on-slope) transition from ground highway to elevated highway. I think someone may have done this already (I swear I saw a picture of it once) but there's several times where there's embanked ground highways that transition seamlessly to elevated highway at the same elevation.

Another worthwhile suggestion would be an elevated highway puzzle piece that has a parking garage underneath the viaduct. This has been done before (notably in Springfield MA) where there's a parking structure underneath a viaduct. This could be a great way to make viaducts into revenue generating structures and saving space by putting parking garages underneath highways. I don't think it's really feasable in the game, though.

CfnNexus, working on NAM related stuff like the NAM Cosmetic mod has delayed my working on the OnSlope puzzle pieces.  I expect that when I have finished my current project, more OnSlope pieces will be my next project.

The one-way OnSlope was almost ready but it needs some reworking because the new NAM does one-ways differently.  That is why it did not make it into the current NAM.  Avenue OnSlopes will take a bit longer.

kefkafloyd, I tried to make a highway Onslope puzzle piece, and I discovered a problem that I have not yet solved.   This problem is shared by all elevated networks such as elevated rail.   It may take me a lot of work to find a solution, so this kind of puzzle piece will not be available soon.

So far, parking lots and Mass Transit stations can only be done with lots.   A parking lot under a viaduct is certainly possible with a lot,  but it will require special transit enabling.  I could help with that, if anyone is interested in doing the lot.

That parking lot idea sounds good, but as a lot, it should be discussed elsewhere. Too bad about the elevated to ground highway onslope puzzle piece; I was thinking about uses for that one myself. Here are a few others I'd like to see (though, being mostly new interchanges, it's looking doubtful):

Y-Avenue stack, rotated 45 degrees from the present version
Y-Highway stack (with 2 lanes per ramp, else what's the point)
Y-Highway stack, rotated 45 degrees
The ever-popular highway 45 degree split (ie, that makes 5 of us)
A set of on/off ramps for a diagonal road crossing an orthogonal highway
A set of on/off ramps for an orthogonal road crossing a diagonal highway

I have a NAM request. It's about intersections from highways to roads. I'll let this picture tell what I mean;

http://dontbedumb.twu.net/misc/example.JPG

I'd like a normal highway to connect with a single tile road, much like the highway T intersection. I know I can do the same thing with a highway T intersection then avenue the end then road that end but I want something smaller and perhaps cost less in terms of maintenance. If it's not too much trouble, I'd like to see a ground and elevated version.

I have a big request... I love the GLR and all, but my reigon: San Portello has a San Fransisco-style city, the GLR doesn't quite fit it when it comes to trying to make a tram. I would find it excellent if 1 of you guys actually created road-top Trams.

Thanks,

Nealos.

If we create road-top-trams, we calculated once that there are about more than 4000 new puzzle pieces are needed for all situations. Apart from that it is technically impossible to have one lane for two networks without collisions.

On the tram/pedmall puzzle pieces, the pedestrians disappear when coming too close to a tram. That is not really a problem on ped malls where masses of pedestrians appear and disappear continously but on street, trams may act like a car-vaporizer.

Thanks for the info, smoncrie. I wasn't sure what the parking viaduct idea would fall under, and thanks for the correction.

Could you elaborate more on why the ground>highway onslope is being troublesome?

Yes, but not only this, a 3 way as well... as this one only shows 2 ways.  Also an identical one going the other direction would be needed

I've come up with a few more ideas and requests from browsing other threads and looking through what's in the latest release:

A ground highway onramp (offramp) puzzle piece. Currently, ground highway on/off ramps use their own overpass; I'd like to see this overpass be directly blendable into the existing road puzzle pieces, in order to e.g. span a highway with an adjacent railroad. If there's room (and I think there is, but I'm not sure), it would be cool if this didn't take up the usual one tile on either side of the highway like the standard on/off ramps. Maybe even turn this into a SPUI... (see my post above on the I-290 offramps, and note the railway).

Single-side on/off ramps - diagonal versions of these for the ones that haven's been created yet, and a ground highway version of the straight ramps. I've also noticed a possible glitch in these - if I place a straight ramp on one side of a highway, I can place one directly on the other side, but not with an ofset of 1, 2, or 3 tiles (the next possible one requires a 4 tile offset). Can this be fixed?

I don't know if this has been requested before, but would it be possible to do a hill side rail-el rail transition. Here's an example:

_Ground Rail__________El-rail______________
                       \
                         \
     Embankment   \

This could also be used in the GLR mod, any ideas as to this would be possible? Surely if you used Tropod's transition and mixed it with those straight overpasses you might get somewhere?

quote>
I also think it would be good to have rail puzzle pieces-elevated rail. Like this:

_____Ground Rail_______Rail Puzzle Pieces______Elevated Rail_____
                               \
                                 \
    Embankment            \

What do you think?

A GLR to Elevated Rail OnSlope Puzzle piece has the same problem as a Highway OnSlope puzzle piece; I have not yet found a way to make one that does not change the slope it is plopped on.

I had the same kind of problem with the current OnSlope pieces, and it took a lot of experimenting to find a way that worked.
