Ok, I have a request, don't know if it has been asked before since i just read the 1st post and quickly browse this thread. If it has been requested just delete it 2.gif

So, while playing with the overpass ramps and puzzle pieces for bridges, i noticed the incovinience of the on/off ramps taking 3 or 4 tiles from the object u wanna cross, u know, sometimes u just wanna save space. Kinda like the drawing below :P

puzzle01.jpg

So, what about if you guys could make a new PUZZLE PIECE for a bridge to be able to make 90 turns, u know, like the normal way they turn on roads, avenues, 1way roads, etc in the game, the usual:

---------------------l
                          l
                          l
                          l
                          l
                          l
 A different PUZZLE piece for roads, avenues and one way roads, something that ends up looking like this:

puzzle02.jpg

What do u think 42.gif btw, I've seen those in real life, so is not that far fetched 2.gif

ps. Sorry for the lame drawings, I guess being and architect is not shown there 14.gif22.gif9.gif

That looks like at least two different interchanges. I see a Trumpet and a Y. (My names might be wrong, but it's not all one interchange in design.)

actually it is one single interchange, if you look closely the topmost road does not join till right at the end linking the two interchanges
quote>

So it has threaded lanes? Still two interchanges, if the threads never connect then it's bad traffic management.

Anyway, with a trumpet and a highway-Y it'd be easy enough to make an in-game representation. If you want to make every possible interchange combination, there's too many for the NAM.

It's easier, for the sake of the NAM, to make this two interchanges even if the lanes are threaded. SC4 doesn't seem to care about threaded lanes for calculating maximum traffic in a segment anyway.

Ah, that would be the M27/M275/A27 junction outside Portsmouth. I remember ending up heading up from that roundabout onto the trumpet bit desperately hoping I could get onto the eastbound M27, only to find I couldn't! Though I think that roundabout has now become an excessively large set of traiffic lights.

Anyway, I wondered if diagonal puzzle pieces were in the works, I have this junction in my CJ:
<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//27232.JPG align=baseline>
In reality the railway goes over the road (red ring) and the slip road follows the yellow line (sort of):
<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Real272.JPG align=baseline>
red=rail, yellow=slip road, blue=minor road
Though my version is never gonna have quite the curves of the real thing at least diagonal puzzle pieces would make my version a bit tidier.

here's something for sunken freeways:

                                     HHHHHH
                                     HHHHHH
                                     HHHHHH
                                     RHHHHR
                                     RHHHHR
                             AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
                             AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
                             AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
                             AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
                                     RHHHHR
                                     RHHHHR
                                     HHHHHH
                                     HHHHHH

A=avenue

H=ground highway

R=on/off ramp

this would make in-ground freeways much more realistic.

that diagram is supposed to show an avenue going over a sunken freeway. READ THE KEY NEXT TIME BEFORE YOU MAKE ASSUMPTIONS. the freeway lanes go up and onto the avenue.

Here is one of the most confusing and interesting interchanges... I doubt you guys would make this, but it would be nice for my Knoxville region.  In this, there are not only your basic 4-way interchange, but there is an avenue crossing west-east.  The North highway interchange feeds into that cross avenue, and also tunnels under it to go into a diagonal avenue.  If that is not confusing enough, there are feeder roads, cross roads, and roads underneath that have absolutely nothing to do with the interchange at all.

You can also somewhat see a Y interchange with the Interstate (I-40) and another major highway at the NE corner and unseen at the SW corner, there is a T interchange as well.  This is how I get to work everyday...

Location reference: The University of Tennessee campus starts directly south of this picture (actually you can see 3 UT buildings in there).  You can also see the Sunsphere (near the water in the park in the south central part of the picture - look for the shadow) in the 1981 World's Fair Park.

That looks like the ol' I81/I88 interchange in Binghamton...

Or was it the 481/81 in south syracuse? I dunno I never travel much farther than troy (not even from troy, just saratoga area).

I have a suggestion: Roundabout interchange!

Yep, I'm new...

Or maybe the NY Thruway/Northside(90)/Northway(87) interchange? That is one big mudda (and a death trap to) LOL.

I'm still waiting for off ramps which lead into a one way road for Ground Highway and not just for Elevated Highway.
Diagram:
<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//offramp.bmp align=baseline>
Grey = GROUND Highway
Black = Off / On Ramp
Red = One Way Road

Yeap, we need a avenue/hwy cloverleaf and or half cloverleaf. It would be interting to take the avenue/avenue T interchange for the highways.

I'm very surprised that a lot of people want small interchanges, I think the opposite; the ingame interchanges are to closer, like the T interchange and the exit/access ramps (and the design of them are not terrible).

Have a nice day!35.gif

What we need too are various railway stacks. (For example a railway version of the avenue-Y-stack). By default, the connections bethween different railway lines really look stupid.

AFAIK, one way/double deck highways aren't possible without modding the .exe (which can't be done by anyone but Maxis.)

The highway to one way ramps would be nice though.

Oneway highways (puzzle pieces) may be possible without modifying the EXE but it would only be useful if many puzzle pieces are made; possibly a bigger project than the ground lightway project.

- two diagonal pieces
- four 45

I would recommend that the NAM team revives the 12 lane freeway mod, but 10 lanes in the following configuration(in lanes, not tiles):

SLLLLHDHLLLLS
SLLLLHDHLLLLS
SLLLLHDHLLLLS
SLLLLHDHLLLLS

S=shoulder
L=Normal Lane
H=HOV/Carpool lane
D=Divider

If this freeway could be done, I recommend the following interchanges, too:

10-lane to 10-lane freeway stack interchange(8 ramps, 4 levels, no carpool lane connections);
10-lane to 10-lane freeway stack interchange with Carpool lane connections(16 ramps, 4 levels);
10-lane to 6-lane ground freeway stack interchange(8 ramps, 4 levels, no carpool lane connections);
10-lane to 6-lane elevated freeway stack interchange(8 ramps, 4 levels, no carpool lane connections);
10-lane to 6-lane freeway T-interchange(the 6-lane will T into the 10-lane);
Avenue, Road, One-Way Road, Rail, EL-Rail, Monorail, and Ground/Elevated Highway overpass Puzzle Pieces;
Avenue, Road, and One-Way Road Overpass Onramps(Version 1 without carpool connections, version 2 with center carpool lane ramps);
SPUI Overpass Onramps with Avenues;
And last but not least, all of the NAM parallel ramps for this 10-lane freeway.
Sorry for the big request, but I think this would be neat!

I am new here, too.

No one of the real NAM developers is responsible anymore. At last, Redlotus has been gone since the TGC stack was finished. A few people are creating add-ons for the NAM but I don't think that old NAM requests will be realized by someone of the old crew.
