Do you have the Network Addon Mod (NAM)?  It fixes the transportation system.

Hey I hate to piggy back off of someone else's problem but when I read it I remembered I have the same issue and I do have NAM installed. However I chalked it up to a sidewalk bus stop I use because my fire trucks can't seem to go through them and the have to find an alternate route to the emergency.

Fire trucks can't go through what kind of bus stops?  RTMT?  You have a new issue.  Please start a new thread with more details including your machine configuration, build level of the game, and a screenshot or two showing fire trucks avoiding your bus stops.

If anything, this is an RTMT issue and not NAM.

This is probably not an RTMT problem. RTMT stations are almost completely free of issues (barring known ones). Transit pass-through is not one of them. They aren't the only streetside stations on the STEX, you know.

I'd argue it's not really relevant to muck around creating a screenshot to show something that has been described in enough detail to understand the problem. Perhaps it's better served to answer this in another thread, but since we are here, does anything pass through these stops at all, and which ones are you using (link is often helpful) - this would be a far more useful place to start than listing the specifications of your system etc.

-----------------------------------------------------

As for the commute time problem, I suffer this a lot too, fundamentally the game is broken here, although the traffic simulator included with the NAM does fix the bugs so if you don't have this, it's really a must. Note: you don't have to install the NAM to use the Traffic Simulator.

There is another bug - the "" which could be causing your problems depending on how your region-connections are set up.

The other problem is that SC4 will build where you zone if there is enough demand, even though the jobs creating the demand may not be close enough for your sims to realistically get to them. The game is working off of the region population all the time and so if there are 500 jobs say in the far corner of your region, residents will move in many city tiles away because there is demand, but in reality they can't get to the jobs. Maybe high wealth people moved in when there are only low wealth jobs to satisfy or some other combination of this? SC4 will build houses in the highest wealth first when there is demand for it, even though the city you are building may not be able to provide them with jobs.

In general the best way I've found to avoid this is to take everything slowly when building and let everything happen more naturally, if you remember playing the in-game tutorial, the key is to NOT provide all services like schools, water, health and police/fire straight away. If you make areas too desirable (expensive) then low wealth sims can not afford to move in, then just as in the real world your economy breaks, because low wealth is the backbone of everything. Take one of those lovely CO$$$ skyscrapers, there will be some R$$$ jobs, sometimes a decent amount of R$$ jobs, but the bulk of the employees are R$. Long story short: too many higher wealth residents is not a good thing, unless this is the result of a long gradual improvement across the entire economy.

There's plenty of information out there that goes into far more detail than I can here, so have a look around the forums for some old postings on the subject, or even better let google take the strain and do some searches. Don't assume this problem is something wrong with your setup, although this is possible.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

I don't necessarily accuse the RTMT.  It is just that it is the most common station replacer.  I am getting heartily sick of people blaming problems on the NAM when it is probably not the case.  If there is an incompatibility, before going off blaming this and that, I'd want to be sure that I had looked at everything I have that might affect the case.

okay sorry for the late answer...^^ however i have the NAM installed yeah

the matter with the buildings is that sometimes they stay with no commuters (like they don't show anything when i click on them) and then they get abandoned after a few months...it's depressing, and also all the times i install a new neighborhood they all get the suitcase with the crossfire and get abandoned too :(

How much jobs do you have in the city and any of its neighbors? The Sims:Jobs ratio should be 2:1. Perhaps you just need more jobs. A suggestion would be to put some low-density commercial zones at major road intersections within your residential area. This will provide more jobs close to home for those particularly lazy sims, and is in keeping with RL where there are small commercial areas in a residential area with grocery stores and other shops.

Hey guys, I to am sorry for the late response. My problem seems to have fixed itself I guess. Was playing last night and my fire trucks passed through just fine. I guess the couple times I saw it happen the game didn't see the route yet. Thanks again for the help.
