Hopefully your GPU handles it Xenocity, pretty stout on the rest. I gave up trying to play games on my laptop, just built a cheap desktop with a dedicated video card.

I want to clarify something I said in my post above  - I was mistaken about comerccial not having jobs, there is some misinformation out there, i now found a quote from one of the developers on the forums saying that they do provide jobs just not nearly as many as industry and office zones provide. So scratch that bit right now.

Not worried.

I don't play on full settings for any computer game.

Though I doubt I'll go back to a desktop due to my mobile nature.

Is there anything with transportation outside of roads in this game? Subway, freeway, trains etc?

There will be subway, freeway, trains, and boats in a addition to various roads. Buses will use any roads that work.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

I've preordered it.

Did history taught you anything, people? Pre Orders should be in list of Bible Sins. Too many times when people pre order something and they find the game not meeting the expectaions or finishing comepletely broken... I know that Paradox is not EA and the price is sweet for someone but we need to be really cautious even with this game.

You're absolutely right. I am really shocked people are still preordering after the whole Simcity fiasco (something I won't do again). Preorders for digital copies make no sense... I am very very excited for this game but I will not buy and download until the day or week it releases, based on more reviews.

I pre-ordered today.

And please do not compare this to EA's SimCity fiasco.
First of all, here we do not have the forced online only gameplay. Modding is supported from the start. It's not EA.

:D

Does anyone know how much this game will cost and if it's going to be available on Origin?

While I generally agree with this stance, I once in a while (i.e., very very rarely) preorder just as a method to show support for an idea. I'm fully aware of the possibility that the product may be less than satisfactory. To be honest, regarding this title, I don't expect anything grandiose - I know both Cities in Motion games after all :D. Then again, it's a budget-priced title, so the potential loss is minimal, and the preorder was 25% off of this anyway. I guess the game will have lots of DLC, which is something I don't like and where I will be extremely stingy.

There are that few city builders made that I also threw money at Banished in the beginning. That's a title that was made by one guy, so my expectation was that I get a few days of fun out of it. That's pretty much what it was. While that was slightly disappointing, it was not unexpected, and I had no problems with having paid just a bit less than the asking price. I have a similar attitude here. I hope it's great, but I don't hold my breath. I appreciate that someone tries their luck with this genre, and that's what I honor here. I hope the simulation works better than in CiM 2. They had some time to improve it.

I just preordered the Deluxe version a few minutes ago.

Does anyone know how much this game will cost and if it's going to be available on Origin?

$29.99 for Standard

$39.99 for Deluxe

So far Steam only!

1. The cost is $30 for standard and $40 for Deluxe.

2. Origin is not very good and is (as far as I know) a mediocre platform for selling EA branded computer games and nothing else. Cities: Skylines is made by a different company (Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive) and has built in Steam workshop support. That means Cities: Skylines will never be sold on Origin. FYI, more people use Steam than Origin and UPlay combined.

I have Steam, Uplay, and Origin but I use Steam most because it has a better experience. The reason I have them installed is because I play games that require them.

Actually Origin is almost on par with Steam now in features and stability (just missing those unwanted trading cards).

The only area that Origin wins out is in customer service (Valve CS is awful).

Origin also has non EA games on it including Indies, Ubisoft and others.

I hate tell you both Origin and Steam regular scan your HDD to see what you're playing.

For some reason I don't mind Steam, but I absolutely hate Ubisoft's Uplay (I think it's called) and Origin. With Origin it's become sort of a principal thing... damn EA.

New Cities: Skylines CJ -

Feel free to check out my SC4 CJ as well -

Here's a nice article about transportation in case some of you haven't seen it: http://www.cimexchange.com/page/index.html/_/articles/exclusive-csl-inner-city-transport-r124

The more I learn about this game the better it gets. Unfortunately I won't be buying it right away because I'm not sure how my well over 5 years old PC will run it.

Paradox has been using Steamworks as DRM for most of their recent titles, so it makes sense to use Steam. As far as DRM is concerned, Steamworks is pretty harmless (of course, it's still DRM). Many publishers prefer Steam as it's very easy to apply patches, plus you have the Steam Workshop integration for the game, which is a very good thing for a game like this. So, if it's Steam or Origin, Steam is the obvious choice.

In case you think it's about DRM, there's obviously gog.com as service for DRM-free games. However, many of the developers of recent Kickstarter games that had DRM-free options on gog.com complained about the difficulty to patch their games. Let's hope this will improve as soon as the Galaxy client gets better.

By the way, greenmangaming had 25% off coupons for Cities:Skylines during the weekend. It's probably good to watch for a repeat. At least, if you don't have it already (I already bought it).

There may well be some things in CSL which suck and are yet to be reviled, but all the red flag stuff about SC2013 were known well before release, people just got it because Maxis and SimCity is a strong brand. And sometimes you just have to try things out for yourself.

You all are getting overhyped... I see simcity all over again. Accept for the DRM crisis. The game is riddled with stuff from minor bugs to huge deal breakers. I've been following closely and have decided NOT TO BUY. I'd rather buy SC4 or Cities XL.

Too bad neither of those games run natively on Linux.  Wine introduces its own bugs in many cases, and I get enough of Windows and Mac OS X at work to know to avoid them during my leisure time.

I may be a minority, but I still want to play these sorts of games.  It's hard to not be excited over someone actually giving that consideration.

The only 'modern' game I've been playing as of late is Cities in Motion 2 (also from CO/PI), which I like quite a bit.  OpenTTD, Simutrans, and Lincity-NG are the only others I've played in recent memory.
