Hello

While I was studying scripts for my projects, I decided to edit a mod I always had, "", because I don't have Cities of Tomorrow and didn't need the spacing for megatowers.

I investigated a bit and discovered how to create guides for every single street and avenue in the game. I can also differentiate the edge guides for each street.

I'll release a mod if you would suggest some interesting configurations.

How does it work?

every street can have a different spacing with the streets of the same type (you can see this in my guides mod page), so I need you to suggest the spacing for every street type.

My personal configurationd would be:

dirty road: low density building (low density building from edge)

low density road: high density building (all other roads have high density building from edge)

medium density road: 2 high density buildings

high density road: 3 high density buildings

medium density avenue: high density building (compatible with low density road)

high density avenue: 2 high density buildings (compatible with high density road)

streetcar avenue: 3 high density buildings (compatible with high density road)

What does "compatible" mean? For example: if you placed a medium density avenue, and select a low density road, you can see the guide where to place the low density road in order to have the space of a high density building.

I'd like to release this mod, but I don't know if it's ok or if the initial configuration could be better. Suggest!

I haven't "visit" the guides area yet.

But my suggestion for a perfect spacing guidlines is to make all streets guides regardless of price - 440x440 trick based on dirt roads (for Residential and Commercial), 470x440 for Industrial.

Take note for Avenues as well.

or...

Low Density Dirt Road : Low Density Building (back to back)

Medium Density Street : Medium Density Building (back to back)

High Density Street : High Density Building (back to back)

Medium Density Avenue : Medium Density Building (back to back)

High Density Avenue : High Density Building (back to back)

High Density Streetcar Avenue : High Density Building (back to back)

(back to back)*Guides

Can you tell me what 440 and 470 are measured in high density buildings and low density buildings?

The 440 simoleons trick is based on low density dirt road.

If you select and draw a low density dirt road - look at the price until its cost 440. Do the same until you get a box of 440x440.

Then if zone inside the box, you'll get 4 high density back to back buildings.

Same applies for industrial (if im not mistaken, the width of High Density Industrial is slightly different). Regardless, in 440x440 box if you zone industrial you may only get 2 High Density Industrial back to back with slightly extra space.

As far as I know, industries are as wide as 2 high density residential buildings. So why 470 instead of 440?

I know the sizes, I just wanted to be sure I did the right guides for Yayie.

The box in my screenshot can be done with medium density roads and better streets, and a box half that size can be done with dirty and low density roads.

If that's ok, I'll release that mod.

From the edge of the map, the space is 1 low density building for dirty and low density roads, and 1 high density building for all other roads.

Any other configurations? (see first post)

It would be nice if it would show guides for high wealth buildings between roads and avenues. That is still one guide that is missing.

Also guides for high wealth between roads and railways, and avenues and railways.

Street-Avenue guides are ok, if you use certain types (see first post).

As for roads and rails, it's something I plan to do, but I need to experiment a bit to see if it's possible.

EDIT: It works. If a rail is placed and you use low density roads, you have the space for a low density building. If you use a medium/high density road, you have the space for a medium/high density building. I also removed edge guides from rails.

I'll release this mod with the name "functional guides mod". It's complete and works. You should test it to see if it conflicts with other mods.

Do you see how rails work in my mod?

In order to do what you want, avenues should behave like rails, so if you draw a street, guides show the space for 1 building. What about edge guides when you draw avenues? Should they be removed?

If you want I'll do the beta3 like this.

    Hi,

I see it. It is wonderful how you've done it. Thank you so much. I'll keep this one. :)

Maybe the community has a special wish about the edges? If it were up to me, I would let the 2k border equally count as either roads or railways, with the same measurements as you did with low, med, and high density, just so you can tell with ease exactly where the original 2k city block is.
