Artur Fischer, the last great german inventor, died on wednesday at the age of 96. Amongst his commonly known inventions are the sychronized flashlight for cameras and the 'S Plug' (splitting wallplug or straddling plastic dowel). And, some may have played with it, fischertechnik.  With 1121 patents he was the third sucessfull patent holder of all times, before Thomas Alva Edison, who held 1093 patents.

His father also died of a heart attack.  Sometimes heart disease runs in families.
