You opinion about BAT building size

Hi,

Sorry if this is just a waste of bandwidth, I need your opinion on the size of these buildings I made. I still need to add some details, just thought I'd check them out first, and at first glance they seem a little small compared to Maxis buildings and other Eastern European ones (the red corned building for example) but appropriate in size when it comes to cars, people etc.

Let me know what you think!

Don't forget to add the vertical scaling factor of 1.33!

Also, congruence (matching) with other buildings in-game is far more important than matching cars and people. I'd use the buildings as a metric. Remember that Sims are 2.5m tall as well.

Yes, my first approach would be to model according to real-life dimensions, then scale the height to 133%, and then plop the BAT in game and see if it looks out of place next to similar buildings. If it stands out blatantly, I'd try some slight size variations. The hard part is that next to nothing Maxis made can be used as a 100% trustworthy reference because Maxis didn't apply a uniform scale.

From a first glance, I'd say that your buildings lack the vertical scaling to 133%. The windows look very squarish, and everything appears to be somewhat squashed.

concerning the range and parameters of a decent scale for the SC4 game play...

the range of examples are:

on the big side is Sim Goobers stuff, while on the small end is Mntoes British residentiales...

BUT the ideal range -as for the happy medium  , is the works of JBSimio [whose work I truly miss namely the U of C], Jasoncw, Mipro, SPA, Nofunk, simhtoddy -name?, gascooker, vlasky, mattb325, NYBT, Aaron Graham and others...

:)

Seriously? I always thought I batted on the large side. Just goes to show the problem of scale.

yea... scale in this game is subjective and problematic...

Mntoes: so I challenge you assess my observations to see if it a reasonable range; with a line up of SGs stuff, and then the others and then your residential duplexes...

placed done in game at the favorite zoom and observe to see the comfort range of the bats in the city... see how your ranges shake out...

as my ranges are overall -large, small and ideal that happy medium...

and no, your stuff isn't that 'large', for the most part your bats fell into a good size that worked well
