I agree with all of you, however, just because you agree to some petition, doesnt mean that they will do anything about it. Theres no law that says they have to honor a petition after so many people agree to it. So, although this is a good thread to rant and rave about what could be, it serves no other purpose.

Despite the mentioned bugs, there are a lot of other graphic issues. They should read their BB for the clues.

 

In addition - They quit making new buildings after just 3 months releasing their BAT tools. I think it's a disgrace.

I'll sign.. but like many others before me.  I'm doubtful that Maxis cares. It seems their interest lies where the money comes from... and I'm almost positive that The Sims makes waaaaaay more money than Sim City does... but we can hope......

BUT as you consider Simtropolis a community please do not forget us Mac users as part of it. We can't even register the game. I think it would be better if you remove all those .exe stuff from the petition and add a multi platform comment somewhere. This is also an issue at Simtropolis. I bet exe installers are very convenient for most of the people but we can't use them. (special thanks to kbooms1w and at this point.) Thanks for creating all those beautiful add-on for this nice game but please consider as we do not have Lot editors or BATs, we are depending on your understanding and creativity.

btw, I really do hope that maxis decides to listen to our petition...if not it may come time for a gaming revolution in which gamers all around the world rise up and create their own games and end this monopoly we know as the gaming ind. MUWAHAHAHAAA!!

I'll Sign the Petition (Which I have already done)

To all people reading this Forum,

Maxis has not made an Update to SimCity 4 and Rush Hour since 2003 (I believe), and I believe that the people of Simtropolis are probably the one group of people making modifications to game.

I find it is an shame to abandon such a great game, especially that millions of copies of Simcity 4 have been Sold Worldwide, Maxis or it's Parent Company Electronic Arts were probably focusing on the Sims 2 and trying to complete the game and probably did not do an update to fix the problems that we keep having today.

Hopefully we should get Maxis attention and I think that they will be more than happy to do an update, after all it is the least they can do before we await the latest version of Simcity. My main problem out of the three listed is the residental Ploppables and that they keep getting abandoned even though all requirements are met.

I hope that this Website will continue and will still make Simcity 4 what it is.

I don't know why Maxis never fixed these (simple) problems, but from doing some research, Maxis wasn't ever very enthusiastic about custom content (or SC4 for that matter, by the looks of what they gave us) in the first place.

Well, I voted, but I doubt that EA would listen to us, even being the biggest SC4 community on the Internet... I really think they just don't CARE. SimCity 4 is not a major moneymaker and by now, I'm guessing almost nobody working for them is even discussing ANYTHING about SC... unfortunatley. (And PEG, the animated props thinggety has been fixed... go, like, 10-15 pages down the STEX and you'll see it! )

They should really consider SIMMARS a point of how much Simtropolis members love this game.

 

Believe me when I say this, If we gathered enough support and got a team of game programmers we at Simtropolis could develop an equivelant to SimCity. We have the brains (modders and people like me who can mentally design buildings but can't work the BAT) we have the brawn (the terrific BATers), and we have the determination.
