  1. Houston TX by NDEX CME

Pretty good, but it's missing the most important parts. What's the use of making this and industrial city when 90% of the ship channel is gone?
  2. A PETITION TO MAXIS (Please Participate)

I signed, but I highly doubt that Maxis is still interested in this game.
  3. Pittsburgh - The impossible region...

This map's got everything, all the way down to Donora (and beyond). I still need to figure out a way to resize the image while keeping the rivers smooth, not blocky. And I've tried Gaussian Blur, but that only makes matters worse. It corrodes the river banks and a lot of other crap that you don't want.
  4. Pittsburgh - The impossible region...

It's a good map, yes, but the elevation isn't accurate, nor is the scale. I'm still in the process of developin my Pittsburgh Metro map, but I've hit a bit of a wall. It seems that when you resize an image in Photoshop, it doesn't compensate the edges, and it gives the fine details a blocky appearance. I'm seeing what I can do to get around this.
  5. Pittsburgh - The impossible region...

Holy crap, this topic hasn't died! Well, I've got some very good news. I've cleaned up a USGS map of the Pittsburgh metro area, and I'm currently in the process of smoothing out the river banks. Expect a new map of Pitt on the map exchange in the coming weeks. Photoshop made it extremely easy to fix the problems of the DEM to BMP conversion. This new map will be as accurate as SC4 will allow. By the way: EXCELLENT work on the USX Tower, man.
  6. GE Freight Station

Very, very good job. A perfect 10!
  7. Pittsburgh

How'd you get the low terrain by the rivers to work right? Looks great, BTW.
  8. Pittsburgh - The impossible region...

Well, I've tried for exactly one week now, and I've failed. Pittsburgh, PA cannot be recreated with SC4's greyscale terrain import system. The problem seems to lie within the interpolation process that SC4 uses while creating terrain. With this, you cannot have realistic canyons, streams, or creeks, and simply put, a region like Pitt cannot be created (realistically). I've tried and tried, but to no avail. It would be nice if Maxis actually made a new terrain creation system, rather than using the same one from SC3k. Maybe there's a way the engine can be edited so that terrain as complex as this may be created, but who's to know? We'll probably just have to wait until SC5 ...
  9. Texas City

Pretty good. Only one problem, though... Texas City smells terrible.
  10. Traffic City

In the city I'm currently making (Hong Kong), there are approximately 59,650 buses and 16,200 cars on the right side of my highway bridge, which goes from Western Kowloon to Central HK Island. It's actually not just on the bridge --- It's like this all over the city. And, since I have so many buses, the pollution is quite low. I'll upload a screenie when I have the time.
  11. Real Size Hong Kong

Very nice job. But, the elevation limits of SC4 prevent a truly perfect recreation of HK. Maybe there will be a mod for that some day...
  12. Los Angeles

Best. Region. Ever. I will start building an immense city as soon as possible!
  13. Quest To Make A SimNation

It could work. But, somebody would need a super computer with over terrabytes of hard drive space, about 10ghz processor, and at least 3gb of ram, along with twice the pwoer of a 9800 Pro. Like one of you said before, it'll probably be possible around 2010.
