Not trusting the downloading process

I tried downloading some files and they refer me to this questionable site where i get them from. I'm pretty sure that place is riddled with viruses. When i downloaded some, the name for them is setup, what is that? Why can't downloading be easy and safe?

Are you sure that you're going to the STEX here, going to a file, and clicking Download? If someone has posted a file with malicious software or anything of that sorts, it can be reported to moderators or administrators.

Just an uninteresting person that plays video games for your falsified amusement.

Ok this is really wierd: i'm back at the road and trench mod made by xoxide and i'm not being redirected to that site i mentioned hours before. All i know is when i clicked the download before, that's where i was redirected.

I've just tried to download that file, and didn't encounter any issues.

Here's a thought: Did you happen to download the file while not logged into your Simtropolis account?

If so, there are restrictions enabled for guests visiting the site. Before receiving the file, guests are redirected to an advert on AdF.ly. This is basically a revenue source Simtropolis has implemented. There's a 5 second time delay before the file can be downloaded by clicking SKIP AD in the top right corner. The "suspicious" file you obtained is probably from clicking an advertisement instead of the skip ad button.

Even if you ran the exe, I wouldn't be too concerned though.

According to the service provider, all those adverts are apparently free from malware, and Dirk certainly wouldn't incorporate a system if it were to pose such a risk.
