Looks the part Schriefer! Really pleased with the outcome of your BAT, but if you're considering anymore input for it, some brighter nightlights and scaling the house back a little could improve it a bit. Otherwise, great work! :D

I agree with the nightlights, but the size of it looks about right to me. If you look at the car parked in front of the garage door it's about the equal scale, and comparing the bottom floor to the tiny maxis house next to it, they're about the same height. I think the scale of it is pretty much perfect.

So, me being me, I made quick, block-model of Hogwarts and it looks like the castle is about 300x380m (including training grounds and great viaduct in front but without Wooden Bridge). I think it might be too big to export it :(

"Is it not cruel to let our city die by degrees, stripped of all her proud monuments, until there will be nothing left of all her history and beauty to inspire our children? If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters. Maybe… this is the time to take a stand, to reverse the tide, so that we won't all end up in a uniform world of steel and glass boxes." - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

You can divide it into pieces.

Nice to know you are doing it :)

I just did a block-model, it took maybe an hour :)

I'm afraid I have no idea how making BAT in parts works :(

@Seraf: wow, so sorry, I just saw your reply now D:
I think make BATs in parts is just make it complete as we do, but when you finish, you just "cut" it into pieces and export each one. I don't know if people do like that, but maybe works.

Can anyone give me an idea to find the height of the Great Hall of Hogwarts? I have part of the model ready in scale, but I have no idea how to figure out the height D:

Apparently the Great Hall was inspired by the Christ Church dining hall in Oxford.

    Cool, I didn't know about that :)
But I was checking it here, looks like it is inspired only inside the building, I think the Great Hall is higher than that.

Have you tried seeing if there's any info about the Great Hall set on the Harry Potter Tour in London or images of it on Flickr? It might help in determining height.

The only information I have about the model you said is that it has around 15 meters in diameter and 1:24 its scale.
But I just read now that one part of the castle is based in Durham Cathedral (towers around 44m). Looking several images of Hogwarts looks like the Great Hall has the same height as those towers. I measured with pixels and a rule and really looks like the same height. I think problem solved then :P

Durham Cathedral is the best cathedral in all of Great Britain. Inside is super cozy to with those super fat stone columns. There is also the Cloisters which I believe may have been used as an onset location for the Hogwarts courtyard.

    Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

    This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

Ln X: yeah, it will help a lot!
Knowing the right height I could do a preview. I've not done much so far, but the windows really require lot of time and details won't appear so much :'(

Tell me about it :D When I was making my Great Hall I was really mad that I spent all this time on making details and they weren't even visible ;) I had to remodel one of the courtyards to reduce polycount :P (you would think that I would learn to not to make too small details by now :P ) Anyway, it looks like a good start :)
