.Dat file help needed

Hi,

OK, I want to use this set to make my own Garage

 

The Zip file provides all its contents as .DAT files.

 

Can anybody give me a short idea on how to proceed now.

The DAT files contain the multiple props and overlay textures for use in the Lot Editor. In other words, these are the dependencies.

 

Just place the 3 files into your plugins folder, and the contents will be available in the Lot Editor's overlay texture and props menus.

 

Before getting started, I strongly suggest to look through the included readme. This goes into detail on usage, explaining exactly what the pack contains and how to make the best of it. For example, there are timed props which will only appear at certain hours of a city's day.

    OK from the building tab can I delete that Maxis garage building ...

    I don't think you can delete anything from your plugins in the LE.  You can only work on the existing lot.  So what happened when you tried it? 

     

    Don't people ever think of asking their computer what it does any more?  You can't break it, you know.

    In the LE, I selected the Maxis Garage...

    Then I can delete everything (base & overlay textures, props etc) except the building... It only allows to use another building but cannot delete any building.

    It's impossible to delete buildings with the LE, you'd need the reader to do that. Unzip the attached file and put it in your plugins folder, open the maxis parking and replace the building with this one, it's an invisible parking (simply labeled as "parking" in the list)

    OK here is my 1*1 parking lot

    Its a bit buggy though to the game player...

    As the screen shot shows it has 4 cars but while lotting I put 2 cars in the lot...

     

    Anyway it will work for me...

    Um, cars on the Lot have nothing to do with it's capacity. Remember that this is a sprite-based game, which is a fancy way of saying the visuals are generally disconnected from the fundamental workings, aside from being generic visual indicators of the actual workings behind the scenes. You'll need to edit the properties of the Lot in the Reader Tool in order to change the capacity.

     

    What would have been weird was if there were four visual cars on the lot. The stats have nothing to do with it (visuals) (remember that up to 14 R$ Sims can live in a two-bedroom bungalow).

    Thank you everybody... Yes those 2 cars are for fancy... Realistically I don't what its capacity is hehehe

     

    I opened the default 3*3 Maxis garage in LE and then made its lot size as 1*1. That's it... Didn't even know of iLive reader.

     

    BTW thank you Nonny... I started using SAM and now have asphalt streets :D
