IE 11 or Google Chrome on Windows 8

I keep reading stuff ever since I booted up my computer about IE 11 being the optimal choice because it uses your gpu to process webpages faster. Something like that, not exactly sure how it works by the way they explained it. My issue is at the moment I only have an integrated graphics card AMD A10-6700 Processor with AMD Radeon HD 8670D graphics  8 GB DDR3 1333mhz

So would it be better to run Chrome which doesn't depend on your GPU for help or am I just over thinking just how much IE 11 is actually using off my graphics card.

I almost feel like it's just a gimmick to get people to use IE with Windows 8 and my god if they try an push bing on me one more time I'm going to throw up lol

Edit - Also, is there anything I can do with my resolution to make it better? My highest available setting is 1920 x 1080 an it has (recommended by it) but my tv is like 42" I believe an until I get a monitor for it I have to use this tv.

1.  Internet explorer is of course getting better over time.  Microsoft has a much more professional development team that works harder than the hobby-like Chrome project.  But to me, the interface is much smoother, and I don't have a single complaint about performance.  And the adware you get with IE is notoriously ridiculous.....

When Chrome came out, it was several steps ahead of IE.  I think Microsoft still has some gap left to close.

2.  Most HD televisions only have a max resolution of 1920x1080.  Higher resolution ones are much more expensive.  The though process is that you usually sit way back from your TV.

So you were referring to Google Chrome when you said this " But to me, the interface is much smoother, and I don't have a single complaint about performance" or IE 11 because the following comment on the adware left me confused.

I'm sitting a good 5 feet away in a recliner. I mean I guess it does look as good as its going to being as its on a tv. What else can you tell me about resolution. Does it affect the performance of the graphics output in the system by having  a higher resolution setting on a big tv like this?

Edit: If I sit any farther back I'm not going to be able to read the text. I've enlarged everything to the best of the systems ability but something just feels off too me I don't know why. At the store the quality of the image was beyond amazing. On my tv its just mediocre at best

And my TV is HD an has 1080p made by hitachi a few years old I suspect probably about 4-5 at most

Mozilla Firefox! Combined with adblock plus, surfing the internet has never been so hassle free.

    Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

    This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

I use Firefox with AdBlock plus.  I don't get many ads, and only from sites I permit like this one.  Tried chrome and didn't like it.  I could run IE under wine, but it is most unsatisfactory.

IE11 is great on Xbox One, but my school only has IE7 and I use an old but reliable Safari browser at home. I do have IE11 on Surface and it is extremely smooth, waaay better than the previous IEs.

I never liked Chrome, felt like a cheap "me too" of FireFox. Firefox has fallen a long way in the past two years and tends to resist UK based sites...

Btw does anybody know if ANY browser has some option to make the search box separate from the address bar? It was a nice (to me) feature on IE (I think up to version 8 or 9?) but then Microsoft decided to drop it and merge it with the address bar, as the other, "newer" browsers did. You could define several sites as "Search Providers"; I had set Google, WIkipedia, Dictionary.com, The Free Dictionary and Youtube. The feature seems to have been lost, unfortunately.

So its safe to say that if I wanted a reliable browser an didn't really care for the so called "speed boost from IE11" I should probably go with Firefox?

I find FireFox's UI to cluttered although I haven't used it since Version 33 or something. Chrome is quick, has AdBlock, Simplistic UI and iOS/Android syncable. It rarely gets errors or bad webpages and with the right theme it can look pretty cool as well. :D

I didn't even know you could add themes to Google Chrome. So you can customize it just like Firefox? Does IE 11 have any themes? lol

I heard firefox is now adding ads to their browser, I seem to find Chrome the best however it crashes often and in st chat it makes errors when you post stuff, but that is the trade off for the speed of it.

Adding ads to the browser ? That would be like shooting their own foot !!!!

Chrome never crashes for me, absolute stability.

Don't believe what you see on the net, especially from Google which has too many irons in the fire to suit me.  If Firefox (Mozilla) were placing ads in their browser, why would they recommend Adblock+?

There are enough damned ads on TV.  And now they are popping them up at random at the bottom of the screen.  I have serious problems with the existence of news tickers on some channels and now this crap.  Unannounced ads of any kind are definitely a PITA.
