A little tutorial on roundabouts

Maybe this thread is not necessary, but it's impossible to see if this was done before 2.gif It might be a help for someone new, or a nice guide for the ones that didn't know this 29.gif

I recently tried a new way to make nice roundabouts for some low-rise neighbourhoods I have in development, and discovered something new.
Normally I was making roundabouts with just roads, and it looked weird... Sims driving in opposite direction 2.gif With Rush Hour we got one way-roads, but still I wasn't satisfied. For a real small roundabout I am using avenues right now.

The last picture is the result. I think this is the best possible roundabout to end roads in low-rise neighbourhoods 2.gif

I hope this is a nice thread for at least someone! 18.gif

Like all good inventions, it's really easy, very functional and absolutely great! Thanks for that discovery!

I feel bad for the guy who gets stuck in the center lane! 3.gif

But could that create a bad situation, or does the simulator ignore it?

I have never gotten stuck in a roundabout 30.gif

You must be joking? 18.gif  Bad situation????  Cars that approach the roundabout can only drive in one direction... right, back to where they came from 3.gif

That centre lane you talk about is not connected to any other road, so there is no way someone could drive there. In fact, Sims DO get stuck on a roundabout if you make one like this with just roads. But this is one way-traffic, don't forget.

    Thanks Dusk! 1.gif

I am glad my little invention is appreciated 39.gif

Here's a screenshot to show the differences...  First roundabout is with one-way roads, second is just roads (my old method) and the last one is the avenue-roundabout with streets.

Nice tutorial, it will prove useful while waiting for the 2x3 roundabouts, if they ever come. Anyways, great job for finding this

I used this method on my CJ I didn't tell anybody; but if you can spot it you've got really good eyes.

Whoa those are cool roundabouts- I've tried before but haven't got them to look that good. Thanks for telling everyone, although I like the cul-de-sacs better just because I think they're a little more realistic. 2.gif

wow that last pic looks just like a roundabout.. the one with the street connecting. Would be even better if there were an exit on the other side.
