New To Using NAM

Hi everyone. I just began using NAM and my first impression is that there are some things that seem incomplete. For example, I couldn't connect rails to some of the elevated rail ways or I couldn't connect segments of curved railroad because I couldn't find the matching segment. Is this normal?

It's hard to determine what you're talking about since "railway" could refer to four or five different things that fall under the same umbrella as the NAM

Are you talking about the Viaduct Rail pieces (the elevated version of normal Rail that is separate from Elevated Rail), or are you talking about Ground Light Rail (the ground level version of Elevated Rail that is separate from normal Rail)? Are you referring to the Rail Curves or something else entirely?

Can you post a picture?

In most cases it's best to plop stations and puzzle pieces over-top of existing networks, because you cannot drag the networks through them after they are plopped.

Note that draggable El-rail is separate from "heavy" rail.  There is no heavy rail (viaduct) to el-rail conversion piece.

Here's an example of a couple of stations I couldn't connect to.

There's an instruction manual on how to use and set up every station in the NAM; I'd recommend looking into that first unless you're still confused.

Well, in the case of the two bottom stations (GLR: Ground Light Rail), they need to be plopped around the networks, especially for the diagonal one - eg drag the networks, delete a space 1 tile larger than the station, plop, then use puzzle pieces to fill in. For the top (El-rail), I believe that you can just drag it diagonally through. Don't take my word for it though, as Ganaram said, read the latest NAM manual. These are both completely different than the regular passenger/freight train networks, and you should use (in this case) the El-rail tool to drag.

For newer members who haven't been around during the NAM evolution, installing the NAM can be a great shock.  It is like getting a whole new game.  The manuals are on-line

One should always examine things that have been installed on one's system.  While much custom content is plug-n-play, big mods like the NAM and RTMT require more than just jam it in and play.  NAM has more options than Carter has pills.
