That doesn't mean it doesn't start up.

AH! No Christmas music 'til after Thanksgiving! hahaha  Seriously, I never listen to any Christmas music or decorate for it until then.

But, "I'll be home for Christmas" or "Silent Night" are probably my favorites, but there is tons more I like.  :)

Here in the great North East, it starts as early as it wants.  Philadelphia's radio station - B-101 starts tomorrow.

I think in my hometown (Toledo, OH) they usually do the Christmas music after Thanksgiving.  I could be wrong since I haven't lived there in years now, but it was before I left.  Anyways, a couple of my favorites:

Christmastime is Here performed by STP

Gary Hoey performing God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

It's still too early for me, though, so I'll be going back to my video game music for another couple of weeks.

Gian Carlo Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors.  The whole thing.

For carols, I am partial to Spectavit Rex Venceslas.

I also really like A Charley Brown Christmas.

Picking any one piece is so one dimensional.

I have many favorites, but the Rebel Jesus sticks out to me for one thing, and that's that the spirit of giving should is relevant year round, not just at Christmas.

But overall, I'd have trouble narrowing it down to 50 favorites. (But most would be from the Bells of Dublin)

Christmas music sucks period, and I dread having to listen to it every year.

The only real exception is Trans-Siberian Orchestra... just because they're so much different from all the typical crap and are actually rather hardcore.

^ I think the Burl Ives version of that one is more homey.

I can't stand most Christmas music (and especially not before the 24th of December and after the 25th). I prefer nice classical music, The Matthäus-Passion or the Stabat Mater from Pergolesi, or... Alternative versions of Christmas songs are also okay.

It really depends on what you mean by Christmas Music.  It is definitely the wrong time of year for the St. Matthew Passion.

I am totally against the messed up versions of Christmas Carols sung by so-called pop singers.  Most of them can't carry a tune in a bucket.

I have a playlist on my machine that goes from Adeste Fideles sung by a very famous tenor of the past to Kermit the Frog's Twelve Days of Christmas.  Somewhere in there I think I have the parody that starts out "Deck us all with Boston Charlie" by Pogo.  I play this list sometime around the 24th of December and that's it for another year, kids.

I also have a DVD with Charlie Brown's Christmas on it, and a DVD of the original Alistair Sim 'A Christmas Carol' which is not exactly Christmas music.

Here in the Philippines, we play Christmas songs as early as September(!!!) Our favorite holiday is pretty much Christmas. I may not be a believer, but Christmas is possibly my favorite holiday of all time.

Back on topic, my favorite Christmas song is THIS!!!

For me, music played on Christmas doesn't need to be related to Christmas. It's a great piece of music, so I listen to it.

I can't stand it when they play Christmas songs at December 6 right after the other St. Nicholas (Sinterklaas) has left the country. Sinterklaas is actually one of the "inspirations" for Santa Claus as you may know it, and it's still going strong here. This weekend, his arrival was celebrated (he arrived in Groningen this year, and as always in a steam boat. Unlike Santa, you can actually SEE Sinterklaas coming, keeping the illusion of this character more believeable). However, his assistants sparked a quite iffy discussion (about whether it's racist or not) the past month, but let's not talk about that. It's a typically dutch thing.

Also another fun thing in our culture: Sinterklaas is for presents, Christmas is for family and eating. :P

Here's a little list of some of my favorite Christmas songs:

    1. O Holy Night (any version)

    2. Joy to the World (any version)

    3. White Christmas - Bing Crosby

    4. Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley

    5. Deck the Halls - Mannheim Steamroller

    6. Christmas Eve Sarajevo - Trans-Siberian Orchestra

    7. Christmas Canon - Trans-Siberian Orchestra

    8. Skating - Vince Guaraldi

    9. Feliz Navidad - Jose Feliciano

    10. The Twelve Days of Christmas - John Denver and the Muppets

I actually like most Christmas music, but these are the ones I just have to hear for it to feel like Christmas.

The stations in my area aren't playing it yet, so I'm having to resort to online listening or CDs.  I tend to start listening to Christmas music the day after Halloween, although I might mix some other music in until Thanksgiving, and I don't stop until the day after New Year's.

That's a good list. I'll make my own top 5

    5. Nat King Cole - the Christmas Song

    4. The Royal Guardsmen - Snoopy's Christmas

    3. Any Grant - Hark the Herald Angels Sing

    2. The Chieftains - Ding Dong Merrily on Hgih

    1. The Cheiftains - the Rebel Jesus.

And yes, I am of Irish descent.
