Light rail modding help

I've tested it and there seems to be an issue. The trams stop at the end of every single transit enabled tram lot for about 5 seconds. Is it programmed to do this?

The game might be thinking that every transport enabled lot must be a station, and the trams (trains or else) need to stop on their stations 1.gif

I had the same thing with my lightrail and monorail overpasses for the Oppie's Canal Set. 19.gif

they are not programmed to do it, they do so automatically. This behavoir is most likely not controlled by the .dat files so I wouldn't really know how to change it...

those TE lots are not final though, so they might change. The final version of the mod *should* do without them, but that's not gonna happen until T7T gets a chance to look at it.

Although I know the mod is still in very early beta stages, I decided to make some new menu icons, so feel free to use them:

Although I like those white tram icons with the colored stripes, I prefer pictures taken from an in-game screenshot. Also note that I changed the overlay texture to ground rail for a better appearance, at least as long the light rail uses the ground rail network.

    I really like the transit enabled menu icons. It gets confusing trying to find the right size lot to plunk down and this takes the confusion away. The stations look good also. Good work.

    looks good :) I'll still have to fix a few things with with the TE lots though... they don't seem to allow train traffic trough even though automata can pass...
     
    while your at it, how about some UDI icons? ;)

    Thanks for the compliments, much appreciated. 1.gif The light rail mod is one of the sweetest things that came out in the last few months, and I'll keep my fingers crossed you manage to get around the bugs.

    @mikeseith: Just call me Andreas; I added my surname since Andreas was already occupied on this board. 2.gif Oh, and I have one question: In the very first screenshots of this mod you had some nice German taxis, is there any chance you'll release them [soon]?

    The other project that is taking my time away from my life is a set of european cars to replace the default cars in the game. Also working on an asian set. Hopefully I will be able to release one of them in a few weeks.

    Rather than having all the light rail stuff under the rail menu, Is it possible to have all the light rail stuff in one light rail sub-menu under the rail menu.
    I'm wearing out my scroll wheel on my mouse here guys 3.gif lol

    while it could be great if we could create additional submenus, that knowledge has not been found yet (and it is not likely to be found soon)
     so, so far no submenu yet... I could shift the TE lots to the rail menu for example, but I'm not sure that is wanted...
     
    Rubberduck: What do you mean? If you saw freight trains, this is perfectly normal. If you saw an passenger train, was it the standard maxis one or a customized train? (post a small pic if you're not sure) Customized trains can overwrite the code I added to remove trains from sight so you need to move those out of your plugins for now...

    well Mike already made some nice textures... now all we need to do is wait for T7T to have a look at them...

    I am going to use this is my next Cj.
    EDIT: I have just tested it not using the tram lines but the stations and ordinary rail tracks and it worked fine. I even tried UDI

    Was wondering if anyone has been having any problems laying the light rail tracks end for end? I am refering to the 1x, 3x, 5x, 7x tracks provided with the mod. I keep getting the Already Occupied message and for some reason i have to leave a single tile space between the tracks. I have tried this with all the different length tracks.

    It's not just these light rail lots. ANY transit enabled lots cannot be placed adjacent to each other. Try it with the monorail or el rail stations, or any other custom lots.

    Nice work going on there everyone.
     
    I find this to be one of the best mods made so far (except for the NAM but everyone can agree on that!)
     
    I have an idea which may help. Reducing the stations to 1x1 instead of 1x3. It's basicly 2 squares wasted. To fill in the texture gap between the stations and the TE lots, will a RUL file place a tramway texture between the 2 lots? Is this possible?
    Also, a 3 or 4 tile long super tram stop shelter with more capacity for big intersections in the CBD and at terminuses.
     
    P.S. PLEASE USE THE ANT FOR THIS WHEN EVERYTHING IS FINISHED. The textures would be wacky and no great looking tree lined tram tracks. You said that you may not use the ANT but please use it in the end.

    I would like to know if we could get the track pieces set up in 1x6 and 1x8 also.  I have some cities that this would look great in, and I use a 6x6 and 8x8 grid in my downtowns.  Thanks, and great work.
