NWM medianless roadways crash-to-desktop

I have the NWM, I use the endless turning lane and avenue networks extensively in my cities with no issues. However, the 4 lane medianless road as well as the one way road add ons and 6 lane medianless avenue seem to cause crashes. It doesn't crash right away, in fact there is no problem laying down the network and playing. Once I save the tile though, The city will CTD immediately every time after I add these roadways. I wasn't sure if anyone else had this issue, if so please tell me what you did to remedy it.

When you say you have NWM, does that mean you don't have the NAM?  NWM is now included in NAM 31.2.  Are you up to date?

Crashes simply indicate traffic congestion.  Traffic congestion is higher at intersections, where the road capacity decreases.  In the Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool, reducing the Intersection Effect Multiplier reduces this congestion.  Setting the Intersection Effect Multiplier to its minimum of 0.2 effectively eliminates it.  But it also means that Sims don't slow down at all for intersections, even for those with stoplights.  (This is the actual traffic I'm talking about, not the automata.)

 

Basically, the game did not implement intersections well.  You can either get rid of the crashes and congestion or have realistic intersection traffic - not both.

We had a number of CTD-on-save reports from some users with certain specs back with NAM 31.0 and NAM 31.1--neither of which is supported anymore.  With NAM 31.2, we designed the installer to require an updated game, with an additional patch (the "4GB patch") to allow the game to access more memory.

 

A few questions:

 

1) What are your computer specs?

2) Where did you download the NAM, and when?

I edited the title to be a bit... Less ambiguous. 

 

It helps to be specific with the title, because cars crashing in-game is a different thing from the game itself crashing, plus it helps those trying to help you.

It also helps a lot if I wait until I wake up in the morning before I post.

Sometimes the windows indexing service will cause a crash on save.  If you are running this utility function, try turning it off.
