After Map Render, it is all underwater! Map Height Plugins

So I'm trying to make Saint Petersburg, and I render the map, but after rendering the whole region is underwater!

The only part I don't understand is the Height Plugin. THe link is broken in the description, but I found this which claims to have MallowtheCloud 's original files =

Now... what the heck do I do with them???

I put them directly into my Plugins folder.. am I supposed to make a special subfolder in the plugins folder? and what are all these files : 100m.dat, 200m.dat etc.

Just please... Tell me how to prevent my region renders from being UNDERWATER!  :((((

All height mods, unless otherwise specified by the map maker, should be moved to a temporary folder when rendering.

I did remove all my plugins. I just rendered it again without any height mods and it is still underwater.

Maybe I am installing the heigh mods incorrectly. Here is a picture of what it looks like:

Well it appears to me that you should have only one of those height.dats inside your plugins at one time - not all of them. Try it with only the .dat you want and see if that works...

Also, where are your plugins?  No plugins should be added in the Program Files ... area.  All plugins except the sky textures should be in the C:<user>\documents\SimCity 4\Plugins folder, adroitly organized.

If you renamed your plugins directory (effectively removes them) and still wound up underwater, something is hanging around somewhere.  Be sure you read both the download page and any readme files with your height plugins.

These maps that require a height mod file usually only need one of the files in Mallow's set, not the entire set. According to the St. Petersburg map description, you only need the "import" file from the Mallow folder in the Erosion download. Be sure to place only that particular file in your Plugins folder. None of the other folders or files from that download should be there.

I tried the map with only the "import" file in my Plugins folder, and it seemed render correctly. Having all the others is probably what caused the under water effect.

If you look in the Erosion Control download from your link above, you'll see a folder named MallowTheCloudHeightPlugins, The "import" file is one of the files in that folder, along with the ###m.dat files. Just pull the "import" file out of the folder and place it in your Plugins folder - directly, no subfolder needed. You might want to make sure that your Plugins folders (both of them) are completely empty except for the "import" file when rendering the map.

Ok. I will try this as soon as I get back home from school! I will update you with the results.

@nosnoose I will recheck my program files. As far as I know I shouldn't have any plugins there but maybe I do. I'll check it out in a few hours. :)

I hope it is clear now that that download has a set of mutually exclusive choices you have to make.  You can't just dump the whole lot in holus bolus.  The last one that gets loaded will likely be the one in effect.
