Project Sun Dome (3ds expirementation)

the millenium dome, it is not a stadium, i'm not really sure what you call it. i had to take the tube near it very often so i have a general sense of how large it is (the bigest inn the world apparently)

The dome will be 320m in diameter and at its centre 50 metres high - the same height as Nelsons Column.

It will be suspended from a series of twelve 100m steel masts (weight 50 tonnes each) and held in place by more than 70km of high strength cable.

The Millennium Dome will have a circumference of one kilometre and be 50m high at its centre.

i think that should help, also good luck trying to export these things, the bat is pretty limited to buildings of this size. they look beautiful.

Joerg do you think you can have the Sun Dome uploaded to the STEX sometime this week? It's just incredible, I think it rivals the T101 (kd5rax) in detail!

Well the time frame is about 98% based on what i can get out of the 3ds guys and gals around here. I have the building exported and waiting in the form of about 350 fsh files all needing to be placed in the sc4 model file. Once this is done i can test night lighting and scale in the game and then probably rerender the dome again which is only a 5 hour process so if i were to get word from dark matter or couch potato today on wow to import this to the game then i could in theory have it on the stex as soon as later tonight.

 

Oh and JEC thanks a ton for the info on the millenium dome especially the info on the masts.

yea, he told me it was hard geting lights to work in 3dsMAX, and also he started school not too long ago, so that is my guess why things have slowed down...

People in Belleville are already buying tickets to games planned here... Well, but as this project has been slowed down, maybe they'll become a bit disapointed, though certainly not as much as I... after I'll need to repay them all the money they have spent for those damned tickets...

Please hurry up, I can't wait anymore for this great building!!!
