The announcement came a day after Coca-Cola said it would phase out Vanilla Coke and Vanilla Diet Coke in the United Kingdom early next year and aswell in the US. The company said sales have declined.

Coca-Cola added that it plans to introduce Diet Black Cherry Vanilla Coke and Black Cherry Vanilla Coke in the United States in January 2006.

.......

hmm basicly they are trading Vanilla for Black Cherry.....odd,but I'm going to miss vanilla....

I bet 5 bucks Pepsi will follow soon....

Coke vanilla stinks, anyway. It tastes like over sweetened coke. Good riddance.

Sad, Vanilla Coke was the only one I liked. Vanilla Pepsi is horrible, though. the Lime and Lemon ones are bad too. Black Cherry, though, with the success of Dr. Pepper, and the fact that they've ended their licence with Pepsi to manufacture it here, seems likely from both parties. Cherry cola is good, a fie on whoever says it isnt.7.gif

Personally, I think Pepsi tastes like grass till the sun goes down47.gif (I know that sounds crazy, but it's true).

I hope that Coca-Cola doesn't decide to drop Vanilla Coke in the US.

According to Cjah's post, it will in the US as well..

Actually, I don't think Vanilla Coke is sold outside the US and UK.. Anyway, I hate the stuff and won't really miss it..

In fact, I don't drink Coke anymore.. I used to drink Diet Coke, but that's gone bye-bye, now I seldom drink regular Coke, but usually only at fast food joints, if there's no Ice Tea around..

Peach is best, although rare companies make good peach-flavoured ice tea. If you don't know how some company's peach-flavoured ice tea is, lemon is your safest bet; that's my motto. 3.gif

Vanilla Coke is definetly one of my favorites, and I hate black cherry! I am currently primarily addicted to Mountain Dew, but I trade my Dew out for a Cherry Vanilla DP at times...and lots of other Cokes...I love just about anything carbonated...But definetly the best carbonated drink of all time was Pepsi Blue...I was extremely disappointed when Pepsi stopped making it.

Seems like companies love to hault the sale of my favorite drinks...7.gif

Well, I hope they don't get rid of Vanilla Coke and Diet Coke with Vanilla here in Australia. I think the regular is too sweet but I love the diet one.
    Vanilla%20Coke.jpg00Diet%20Vanilla%20Coke.jpg
Could they both disappear from Australian Milk Bar & Service Station Fridges?

But what I do know is that in 2006, Coca Cola Australia is releasing Cherry Coke and possibly Diet Cherry Coke!
Vanilla has really been the only flavour of Coca Cola that has stayed on the shelves in Australia. Diet Coke with Lime, Lime Coca Cola and Diet Coke with Lemon have all been discontinued.

I've always heard that dark colas deplete calcium too, but I've never taken time to research for confirmation.

I used to think that calcium contributed to prostate and kidney problems until my G.P. and urologist told me that lack of calcium is more of a culprit than too much when I had kidney stones removed last spring.  They said that it was okay for adults to go ahead and drink cows milk.

But back on subject, I've never tried Vanilla Coke or lots of the other types of flavors.   It would be interesting to know to what extent of how many people not trying products have an impact on the products' discontinuance.

I really hate to see that the Vanilla Coke is going in the US; it was their best flavor.  Now I'm relegated to drinking Dr. Pepper and root beer and finding a vending machine that dispenses either one is getting harder and harder.

why all these different cokes and mountain dews? its all stupid competition. I don't need 20 different varieties of Pepsi, just stick to the original.

Yeah... this verifies that the US will lose Diet Vanilla Coke, Diet Coke with Lemon, and Vanilla Coke by the end of the year...I am definetly gonna grab me a twelve pack or two of Vanilla Coke and save them for a special occasion lol!

Also here is the story about Vanilla coke being taken off the market in the UK: Click!

I never cared for Vanilla Coke, and agree that it tastes oversweetened. I love Coke with Lime, though, because the lime makes it more refreshing. I miss Mountain Dew Pitch Black, the original. Pitch Black II has way too much flavor, and it throws off the perfect balance of the original one. Why keep Code Red and Livewire but ditch Pitch Black?

IMO pitch black was gross! Way too dark...livewire and code red are very popular, and I love them both...Moutain Dew is definetly the best line of products...

An interesting marketing ploy, wouldn't you say? Killing a flavour because of some MBA's bottom line ideas may have been ok in the late 20th century, but one only has to point out the new Coke fiasco to understand that this time Pepsi shouldn't give their people a day off to celebrate.
