Cannot update SC4 Deluxe to 1.1.640!

I have a legitimate CD version of the game, and successfully updated to 1.1.638, but when I install update 640, it completes but detected version is still 638 and nightlights on custom buildings won't show (there is power)? What should I do?

If you haven't already, remember to extract the patch file from the ZIP archive. Then I suggest copying it and running from your Desktop.

It's a good idea to close all open programs that may interfere. Most certainly the game itself.

Your SimCity 4.exe file should read version 1.1.640.0 when hovered over. Please post the patch log file if it still doesn't update.

Strange, unzipped the update folder, and still version 638. Should I backup and reinstall SC4 and NAM? Or should I install BAT?

None of the above.  Did you, by the way, apply some patch from another source after your update?  If so, you've messed up the checksum and are now stuck at where you are.

 

If that is the case, the best solution is to acquire version 1,1,641 from one of the licensed download sources.

If that's the case, I don't see why it wouldn't be best to just to reinstall the game, since he has a perfectly good physical copy, and there is no need to throw away twenty dollars for a game he already has.

Finally get it work! I reinstalled, but the problem is not the corrupt game files, but I don't know that there are 2 simcity4 installation in my PC! So the shortcut loads the wrong, unupdated game. That's why.
