Very amazing!  You're doing great amazing work certainly one of the best BATs ever, if it's taking 4 months... 44.gif

Alright, here is a more finalized test of the lights...

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//normallights800.JPG align=baseline>
With a little more tweaking, this should be ready for an overnight render, and hopefully soon release.  This is great news, cause I'm doing all this fancy lighting on my old, slow laptop thanks to yet some more nightlighting innovations and tricks.

Alright, I tweaked it and am going to let it render overnight, so I'll show you what I've got tommorrow.

The next step, if all is well, is lot work.  Then I can start on other bats and slowly do the modding and prepare for release.

Words fail me... 25.gif What a BAT! It manages to make your first version look like the work of a beginner, while the first version was already a great BAT. Incredible, just incredible... 46.gif

The BAT is quite beautiful, though the nightlighting just doesn't strike me as what ought to be found on the tallest skyscraper in the world.  I don't know if that's what it looks on the real one or not, but it needs a little more pazzaz(sp?)

It is an incredible building but I do agree with sharkbait about the lights. The real building glows in the sky, and every window shines a bright lime-green color.

Umm, yeah about the whole glowing thing... That only happens like once a year.  The lights generally look like what I have them.  The other kind would way over do the lighting.  You got one pic of the nitlighting, Have like twenty, and only 3 have the same light scheme, and those are the white lights.  The inside lights are sometimes yellow, white, teal, green, blue, and I even have a purple one, not just green (which is actually one of the rarer colors used)

I have some bad news about the render.  It seems that this computer does great for the entire zoom 5 render sequence, but like halfway through zoom 4, it runs out of virtual ram even though I have it set on max vram.  So if I cant figure out a way to make it render on this machine, you guys are going to have to wait until i can get a new computer (unless someone has a really good computer with 3d max 7 on it that would like to try to render it for me).

I have 3dsmax 7 but unfortunately my renders are always screwed up so i have them rendered by bixel.

BTW, since your so good with the nightlightning, could you help me with the lights on my Centre model from Hong Kong, I want to do the nightlights like you have them on your Taipei 101 model so i can add neon lights with the maxis lightning19.gif

    I'd appreciate it2.gif

kd5rax:  I know this might be a bad request... but, I have something...  I love the way the nightlight is as it stands right now... but I think one thing is missing.  It might not be true to the building itselt; however, I think that the top spire... should be spot lighted (lit up).

The base is wonderful, it glows like it should.  However, when you go upwards it seems to get darker throwing off the balance.  When I look at it, this balance makes the building seem shorter, so adding a little more light at the top would make it balance more and seem taller.

Just an observation and a little idea for you to ponder over.  I hope you dont mind me making it.

Np Mcarch, I love advice like that.  I do agree, but I've had a hard time getting it to look right thus far.  Since the final render cant be done anyway, I'll see what I can do with it.  And thanks for the advice, it is always welcome.

What max version are you using? I found the Bat4Max in 7 is kinda funky, I've been rendering Paulvmontfort's building for him in 6, but I'll give this a virtuous (i.e. will try to sovle plugin problems in 7) try in Max 7 if you have saved the file in Max7. PM me if your interested in sending me the file and textures via yousendit.com. I was able to render the HK Liberte Complex which was roughly over 1 million polys and 220 m high and about that in width and length as well. Hopefully you are using Max6.5.gif

    I love coffee and buildings.

Your welcome!  Oh, the way the spire is lit up in that pic above might work.... just the spire though.

As I've said before, the BATs that take a while, are the best. Taipei 101 is no exception. In terms of big skyscrapers,I think this one's right up there with the Petronas Towers, Rubick's WTC, and Rickk's Library Tower.

kd5rax:  Well I have some sad news!  ITS PERFECT!  Yeah sad huh?  No, it looks exactly how I thought it would!  It looks taller while also giving it a symbol.  Its taking the real thing and adding an extra touch.

I think it is wonderful!  Good Job Kd5rax! 16.gif

Lol, sad news indeed... Now what am I going to work on?

Jk, there is always lot stuff, there are a lot of parks and trees and stuff on three sides of the building (so Im going to get to mess with flora and tera-forming), and one side has loads of people and vendors and stairways to the floor below, so there is still much to be done...

Not to mention the task of rendering such a behemoth bat...

I know i may sound lame but take no offence. I just think that whole random lottery thing for this project taipei is kind of cheesy and well over the top..
