Got it running,  but didnt expect the performance to be that low. Got to set all graphic settings to Low/Min in order to have it decently running on a 2011 MBP with 8GB memory. It is probably the video card that is slowing it in my case as well.

It runs so slow, i have an iMac mid 2011  intel core i5 2.5ghz, 8 gb of ram and AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB.

But, in the same iMac running parallels 7 with windows 7, it runs great.

Same slowness problem here! I have a 2012 MacBook Pro and the graphics have to be set low to run decently. Im not very happy. How can this be fixed? Is it our macs or the game, since someone here said It runs fine on Windows with Parallels

2011 Macbook Air, min graphics. Enjoyed it though. It is so laggy when you go to place bus stops.

This is just garbage.  They learned nothing from the Windows launch, because this launch felt like they rushed it out without testing.   This is just a slap in the face.

I'm done with SimCity 2013.   I'll play SC4, and some of the indie games out there, and wait for the iPad Transport Tycoon Deluxe later this year.

I'll echo that it is "playable" once you get past the other stuff, but this  is just unacceptable to launch it like this.  They should have taken another month or two and had somebody doing Q&A on it.  And I haven't even had some of the larger problems others are mentioning on the EA SC forums.

Just installed it on my 2012 MBPro, i've been running it in bootcamp on a windows install until now. Compared to the windows version it is very slow and laggy, with the graphics settings the same as they are on windows.

Like everyone else pretty disappointed with the poor performance.  Been playing on bootcamp Win7 for a while and the native Mac version performs very poorly in comparison.  Having to dial the graphics right down.  And just to make turning the graphics down just that little bit annoying... it won't let me change graphics settings with a city loaded.  Got exit to main menu, change, load city which is slow, find that graphics are still too high and repeat process.

So one good thing I noticed about the Mac version.  My iMac runs no where near as hot as when playing in Bootcamp.  Guess it could have a bit to do with the fact the graphics settings are so low the GPU isn't raising a sweat.

Your graphics card is below the minimum requirements? I have a 2012 Macbook Pro. What the??

Mine said the exact opposite "Your Graphic Card Is Newer Than Expected, Lowering Graphics To Run Faster"-paraphrasing. I LOVE using it on my MacBook, but my PC without a doubt has the upper-hand in graphics right now.

    I'm running a MacBook Pro, i5 2.4GHz, 4GB Ram, Intel 3000.

Graphics aren't great and some lag.

Overall it's playable.  Glad it came out.

Mine is playable as well, its smooth but if I try to increase the graphics it largely becomes unplayable.

Running on a rMBP, early 2013, 16gb ram and SSD, 2.7ghz, i7 - I have no issues with it running all medium, havent tried any other level yet.

Also running on my iMac mid 2011 with 8gb ram, all medium settings, very smooth on both systems.

I have disabled vsync on the rMBP as I don't believe it's need for the retina display.

I am running the Mac version on my late 2011 MBP with 4GBs of RAM, 512MBs graphics card, and 2.2Ghz iCore 7 CPU.

I am fully able to run this game on high settings with no issues and it runs better than my Windows version on the same MBP (the Windows version runs very well).

It also does not suffer from the random glitch that caused me to get booted back to the main menu very so often on the Windows version.

The only issue I have encountered is the new city I created to night does not recognize the Solar Farm, causing me to build a powerplant.

The game has been running more poorly each day.  Even on minimum settings it's very slow.

I have a MacBook Pro that I bought 6 years ago. It has a 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of memory. My graphics card is 256MB. It took a long time to download the updates once the game was installed, and I was convinced that I had wasted $64 because there were a lot of weird issues with getting the game to shut down- the game would not turn off even after I force-quitted it.

My biggest problem was the lag. It was almost unplayable, but my solution was to lower ALL of the graphics settings to the minimum and reduce the game's resolution to the lowest setting and take it off of fullscreen play. It now runs like a champ. Maybe a little lag here and there, and it takes a few tries to get buildings to plop, but it generally works well. I can play on cheetah speed with no problems.

The key is to take it off of full screen in order to make the game run smoothly. I will probably experiment with upping the graphics a little, but I prefer to play the game with no lag to speak of.

That's due to your graphics card and/or drivers being out of date

You need an ATI HD2600 Pro or better

    Nvidia 940M  or better

Also your system is meeting the bare minimum need to run the game, thus you will have trouble with it.

As I've already posted by Late 2011 MBP runs Simcity on high settings in full screen mode without any issues related to hardware.

For a full day of gaming, I got around 5 crashes, more than 10 server disconnection, and for me to have have a decent gameplay is to set ALL video setting to its minimum.

    I'm playing on MBP mid-2010, 2.4GHz dual-core, 2x2GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M

My gameplay on my Mac Pro is pretty good.  No crashes, glitches, etc.  If only there were MUCH bigger maps and contiguous city tiles... haha

I honestly believe that the larger maps are coming very soon solely because the Mac version is now here and the problems of the past are fading away quickly. Maxis has done well with updates thus far, so hopefully by update 10 we'll be seeing larger maps: but until then I'm periodically checking Twitter!

What specs have you got?  Im waiting on a Gtx 660ti to stick in mine to replace the 8800gt which is giving a lot of stuttering

it runs well on my new retina mac book pro 15" with the NVIDIA.

Problem is: I cannot adjust the graphics settings when I go to menu. Everything is locked and I can't change low to high.

Well a few days ago I put all of the settings to low/min.  Haven't had any problems.  I like that it runs smoothly, I just wish I didn't have to put with terrible graphics.
