I have a MacBook Pro that I bought 6 years ago. It has a 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of memory. My graphics card is 256MB. It took a long time to download the updates once the game was installed, and I was convinced that I had wasted $64 because there were a lot of weird issues with getting the game to shut down- the game would not turn off even after I force-quitted it.
My biggest problem was the lag. It was almost unplayable, but my solution was to lower ALL of the graphics settings to the minimum and reduce the game's resolution to the lowest setting and take it off of fullscreen play. It now runs like a champ. Maybe a little lag here and there, and it takes a few tries to get buildings to plop, but it generally works well. I can play on cheetah speed with no problems.
The key is to take it off of full screen in order to make the game run smoothly. I will probably experiment with upping the graphics a little, but I prefer to play the game with no lag to speak of.
