Larks, I won't blame you for preferring Linkin Park to The Beatles, but you have to look at each band in its own contemporary context. If someone attempted to make something sounding like Linkin Park in the 60's, anyone who heard them would be wondering "what the hell is this noise?", because rock music had not developed to anywhere near that point yet. Likewise, a band today that tried to sound like The Beatles could never gain the same success because that sound is old-fashioned now.
