I can see why going to see a movie on Christmas is a thing for people who are Jewish or whatever. But the fact that people who ostensibly celebrate Christmas do it makes no sense to me. What happened to spending some quality time with your family?

I'm 32.  I told my wife that if she or our kids ever get me a tie for Father's Day I'm going to hang myself with it.  I'd take a wheelchair though.  A motorized one.  Especially if the motor is a 5.0 Coyote crate motor.  I'm sure I'd get awesome gas mileage with that.

R D R R. Nope, no wheelchair for me. I did design a wheelchair in college that had a ratchet-like mechanism you could click on so it wouldn't roll backwards when you wheel yourself up a hill. It never made it into production though. I was on campus one day and saw a guy in a wheelchair going backwards down a hill (off in the distance. There was nothing I could do to help him) and that's how I got the idea. It would be suitable for people who can't afford a power chair but also like not dying or getting injured.

 

Hey at least I still get carded for stuff... occasionally. Not so much with the beard, which has grown back since I shaved it for Prophet. By the way, Duke. I should mention there is little to no hope of turning any kind of profit (no pun intended) from Prophet, despite costing around $15,000 to make. It is being made purely for exposure in the hopes of being picked up for a full length feature film (the current edit is about 8 minutes long). But I will note that La Roche College would not have let us film there had the name of the project not had a religious sounding name.

But there were weird gifts. My dad gave my uncle Irish Coffee and whiskey and in turn got a Starbucks gift card and a 6-pack of beer. Nobody in my family's an alcoholic, but that's what happened.

I got Whoppers for Christmas.  I also got an awesome Detroit Tigers scarf and an awesome Detroit Tigers knit hat.  Detroit Tigers anything is really a good gift idea for me.  I like the Tigers better than any other sports team, but I think I like football better than baseball.  Oh well.

One gift for my immediate family was a display case that had a ticket to game 5 of the 2008 World Series, where the Phillies beat the Rays for the series title.

So I was walking in Philly's Rittenhouse Square, and in a nice Christmas spirit, the bells of Church of the Holy Trinity nearby started playing "Angels we Have Heard on High". How nice!
