So... a little bit more than a month after release...

this game is already dead or close to dying: http://caas.raptr.com/most-played-games-march-2013/

SimCity’s launch issues in early March were well publicized, and though it hung on to come in at #20, the trend is not looking good. During the last week of the month SimCity was the 34th most played game, and the drop off of new players joining the game has been precipitous since mid-month. It’ll be interesting to see what, if anything, EA can do to turn this around.

I believe the same downward trend in regards to the number of people playing the game is being indicated by xfire as well. EA/Maxis really screwed up on this one. They took one of my favorite franchises and ran it into the ground because of their social and online connectivity bs. In all honesty though they deserve it for taking such a route for what has always been primarily a singleplayer experience. The funny thing is they have enough time to release a car charging station and toothpaste DLC but can't seem to fix the city rollback and traffic problems that are still plaguing this game more than a month after release. Hopefully some other dev comes along and makes the city building game that those of us who have been disappointed have been waiting for. In the meantime I predict that this game will be buried and laid to rest by the end of this year, if not sooner. Don't be surprised if they start reducing the number of servers either like they did with BF3 only 6 months after it was released.

This is nothing new for games.

Most games get most of their sales from the first 3 week, then trailing off rapidly and wind up at the $20 mark by the third month.

Most games also see people quit playing by the 6th week.

So this game is currently keeping to industry trends.

I suspect it will spike back up again after the upcoming "big" patch. Then slump down again due to lack of things you can do (mainly due to map size), then spike back up when the first big expansion comes.

Just because a game is the lowest ranked on some website doesn't mean it's "dying". The game made the Top 20 list. If it truly was "dying", it probably wouldn't even appear on that list.

Sorry but it seems are missing the reading of another stretch ...

And if it was not only the opinion of others ... maybe reading posts like this that are multiplied in forum EA also bring some insight on the subject.

"Is there a sim population, city and regional, demand for the tvs and computers we produce, or will/are the prices controlled only by supply and demand of the global market?"

Man, your guess is as good as anyone's. I just took a look on my closest server, and it looks like interest in this game is dropping like flies in October. Global trade is part of the frustration with this whole system. Being an EA game (launch and forget), I don't know if it will get any better.

The real shame is that Maxis' good name is tied to this title. I've had every simcity since you had to enter a code from a dark red sheet, and they've all been worth the money. Except now. Very sad.

Meanwhile by EA... only silence.

This long wait for fixes doesn't bode well.  You would think they would have stepped forward with better info by now, more transparency.  A weekly update.  They don't seem to use the login screen to keep us up to date.  Even on the Simcity facebook page the group itself no longer responds to any personal posts.

Blizzard, they ain't.  Diablo 3 was running better by a month and change and had several fixes.

However the game is still playable enough that I'm still playing it.  I hope they've got some good, solid fixes up their sleeves.
