About plopped trees...

So I planted many trees in every empty corner of my city.

My first question is: Though the trees appear in the menu of $$parks, I guess there is not any real effect of trees in the game except decoration, right?

Second question: why these trees die and disappear after some time?

The trees will die if the ground is polluted.

The trees will help clean up pollution as well, but you will have to replant them several times, since as you have seen, they will die.

As mentioned above, trees are very effective at keeping pollution under control, especially when used daily.

For instance, planting trees daily around oil wells will be keep the ground pollution to a minimal.  So instead of seeing a large black/brown patch of ground under your oil wells, the ground may only have minor spot of pollution.    Same goes for coal/ore mines, factories etc.

Trees also keep air pollution to low levels.   Plant trees downwind of your heavy pollution areas to keeps the germs low.

Trees die due to this pollution, so you need to plant them daily.

Yeah, I'm obsessively planting trees everywhere, ever since the Giand Lizard visited my city 3 times in a couple of days, and once I found out that the Giant Lizard monster has a relationship to pollution. Probably doesn't do anything, but it can't hurt.

I don't know if this helps.   I'm obsessive about planting trees in all my cities and that stupid lizard has hit me 3-4 times in the last two nights.   I'm so tired of this lizard visiting me that I put usually put in an extra garbage dump somewhere in the middle of my map so he doesn't have to walk far when he spawns.

Don't use an incinerator at your garbage dump if you don't want the lizard. Or export the garbage and burn it in another city.

I think the trees will also die because of the lack of water in the water table. I have noticed even in areas with no pollution they still die and have to be replanted. The only spot in several cities I don't have to replant is around the water pump and sewage plant. The only place with ground water. Hope they fix that soon. Sick of looking at a brown desolate wasteland in almost every city. Lol
