Question about Sunken Highway Overpasses

I have built several sunken highways recently and generally I enjoy the look. However, I have ran into a problem here lately. Sometimes my avenue overpasses are built all sorts of weird, sometimes they are built flush with the ground. These two overpasses were built over a sunken highway that has the same depth, in the same city. The only difference is the direction of the highway. I prefer the highway to remain flush, not raised up under the overpass. Why does this happen? Is there a way to make them more consistent?

You have to make sure that the ground where you're working is all a constant level. Use single road tiles to level the highway section and the level above. Use the ploppable T-ave-over slope piece and ave over ground highway to set it up right.

I still haven't figured out how to get on/off ramps with the symphony pieces, but there are ways around that with the t-interchanges.

It won't work well with Maxis highway pieces like that.  You'd be better off using the on-slope transitions (the last option in the TAB ring of the road viaducts) that come with the NAM (which I assume you have since you've posted in the NAM forum section).  They will build nice and flush with 15 meter trenches:

You'll have to use the Maxis Highway off ramp-to-OWR (one way road) piece to complete the interchange though.
