  1. Set your routes to flow with the traffic out of depots, better to make a reverse loop than a left hand turn.
  2. Don't place bus/trams depots too close together.
  3. Avenues rock for trams, it's a free lane.
  4. Bus lanes rock for buses, see above.
  5. Take the time to tune your schedules on every route for day/night/weekday/weekends and rush hours.
  6. Small transports are a waste of time except light residential.
  7. If a depot runs out of transport, check for a traffic jam before just adding a transport, if so, see below.
  8. You will have to blow stuff up and rebuild, so plan accordingly. The city will grow quickly around your routes.
  9. Loops at the end of a tram route work better and make less congestion than turning around in a depot.

Most of that, with exception of depots, bus lanes and schedules, reminds me of CiM 1. Right turns, loops and no mega-hubs sounds very familiar.

Put game on pause before bulldozing and relaying roads, otherwise the buildings start popping up again immediately and cause a visual distraction.

    I am having problems making a profit. Any tips?

    Examine the map before you build. Pick one demographic (blue collar works) find out where they live and where they work. Bus routes from two depots at each or those two areas, a tram line (both ways) between the depot areas. Start small, 7 or 8 bus routes total and 2 tram lines. You'll get to positive income in about two days and can branch out from there.

    Don't be afraid to upgrade the bus/tram stops if you have unhappy commuters.
