Driveable Vehicles

Those of you that have looked at the exchange lately might have seen some driveable vehicles. I am posting this thread to take requests of other in-game land vehicles you would like to be able to drive. Also to take a load off of Mike Seith, who has done most of them.

 

The list of vehicles I have done so far (and where they are found):

All vehicles will be found either in the My Sim Car Catalog or the UDI menu in the game. If they are in the My Sim Catalog, they will usually be found in the Low Wealth section...

I might be able to do that... Currently I am just taking examplars from the automatons and modifying them so the player can drive them. However, I might be able to get the luggage tram driveable... I'll see what I can do...

I might eventually be able to do that... The items in the UDI menu seem to be controlled by LUA scripts, files that Daeley is working with. I'll ask him about that. I originally tried to put the Semi Trucks into the UDI menu, but I couldn't activate them.

Glad I was able to help you sort that out. But I see your reasoning for calling it a dump truck: Landfill = dump & garbage trucks are spawned from the landfill.

The pickup trucks are already found in the My Sim Car Catalog in the Low Wealth tab. Electric cars? I don't quite understand... If you mean make new graphics for vehicles, that is not what I am doing. You should ask Mike Seith about that... Eventually I might do aircraft...

Albeit not a very popular vehicle, the 1991 - 1994 Mercury Capri / Capri XR-2 would be nice. It's a small convertible, limited in production, from Ford of Australia. Okay, I see that this thread is generating interest again. I haven't done anything with this thread in a while because I have online college courses and I am working on a BAT Project. You can view that project  here .

 

 I will start to attempt to create new skins for vehicles. So far my computer has eaten half of the FSH files that I have tried to make.

 

For requests of vehicles, I'll need the names and the types of vehicles that they are. If the vehicle is a rarity, I'll need a link to do research with. Try to choose a model that is approximate to the vehicle you want. I will also need a list of colors that you want.

 

Be aware, it is NOT possible to generate new vehicle models. That is unless the Modd Squad has made a breakthrough somewhere. I'll just be reskinning vehicles.

Swamper: By a Small Pontiac, I mean like a Pontiac Grand Am or Olds Alero. Also, using logos from SG is perfect, as those are the hotels in my cities. And yes, making it a part of the taxi class is good. And I'd like to add just one more request (I know ive flooded you with so many requests that the water is up to your neck), a 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Sorry about the floods of requests.

@simwario: request added to the list.... I have always wanted to see a Porsche in the game. The ones by Maxis look horrible...

 

@dev: request added to the list.... Normal cab or extended?

 

@Ninja12: request added to the list.... Be warned, it will be done with the Maxis bus model. I don't have access to SAC's models. Additional bus or replacement for the original?

This is a neat idea.  I have two questions, which would require more modding than I can do:

 

1) On these new vehicles with skins, will they only be a UDI vehicle? Or will the also show up randomly in game?

 

2)  If I am not mistaken, it is possible to have a lot spawn or generate a vehicle, specific to that lot.  If this is possible, I could have my various hotel chains spawn a courtesy shuttle, so it only shows up when that lot is in game. I am in the process of revamping all my hotel lots anyways, and upgrading them.  If this can be done I will add that as well.  No major rush, as this would give me an excuse to put them off for a bit, and build some more bats...
