Here is the review for Simcity 2013 from IGN:

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/03/13/simcity-review

From it you can see that Simcity has got a score of 7.0, and in a big red box IGN basically recomends you play these games instead due to all the server problems, frustrations and bugs with the game lol. Cities XL has a score of 8.1

IGN's Recomended alternatives:

Simcity 4

Cities XL

Tropico 4

Obviously most people would say SC4 lol but out of Cities XL, Tropico 4, Simcity 2013 which do you think is best?

Maybe I do so what lol... Its just a forum to see what people think, and what simulator they prefer of course they are different if they where the same what would be the point?  and they are IGN recommended alternatives to different games in this genre.

Cities XL because I don't like to be forced to do multiplayer.

And the maps are huge. And it doesn't look cartoony (apart from the people). :]

Cities XL wins hands-down for me. SimCity 4 is great, but it's getting old... never played the Tropico series but I don't imagine you can do that much with it.

    And SimScam 2013? Please.

I like all the alternatives listed for different reasons.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

If it didn't have multiplayer it would be my favorite with 4 as a close second.

Seems that there is a lot of unhappiness with SimCity launch.  Folks don't like online playing only and even at that   reported glitches in time coordination of users etc.  Been looking at alternatives and it seems the Cities XL is most impressive and certainly most similar to SC.  I see that Origin download from EA is also interested in providing all advantages of online login: to play with community, get automatic updates, share your accomplishments etc - but you can still play offline too.  Though Origin does require online playing for some of the games they download, this is not the case with Cities XL at this time and the download is only $13.  This seems like a no brainer to me .. but I am here to listen if anyone has any other information on the Origin offer that I don't know or understand - thanks

Buy it on Steam, not on Origin.

Steam version is 7$ more expensive, but it's the lastest version, Cities XL Platinium. Origin only has Cities XL 2012 which is not the last one.

To clarify, can you use Cities XL bought through Steam with no internet connection (except during install, of course)?

Cities XL STILL! I would of thought that three months after the Launch, EA would at least have the decency to FIX THE GAME!!!!

SimCity 4 and cities XL. The guys at EA can take SimCity 2013, shove it where the light don't shine, and jump off the highest bridge they can find. I would give them my copy of the game to jump off with, but unfortunately it's a download.

I choose both simcity 4 and cities xl. In cities xl, I find a more real life experience when making cities because you can make your own highways/freeways, bigger cities, and road layouts/designs. In simcity 4, the mods, Bats, props, textures, extra buildings, etc,  make it better to make a more real life like city :). But for simcity (2013), I'm being honest, it suck sooo much booty that its just not fun to play after a while. The stupid small city size is terrible, we need a lot of space to make big cities. And it doesn't have some of the features that simcity 4 has, like highways and freeways. And I know the people at EA and Maxis know that the new simcity 2013 sucks. So my question for them is, Why wont you make simcity better?
