Recycling Center Not Producing

My recycling center is full of recyclables, has all three types of lines, but produces at an excruciatingly slow rate.

For example my metals line says it'll produce .1 tons/hr, but its only producing .2tons/day.

Is this another broken feature?

Yes its a bug.

If you delete and re-create the plant it will start working.

I have multiple recycle plants in my city and when one gets stuck they all get stuck.  I found that if you bulldoze just one of them and replace it, they will all start working again.

So i put a sacrificial recycle plant in, with no reclamation lines and no extra trucks.  I use it purely for bulldozing / replacing (since its expensive to replace the reclamation lines).

You can also create the processor fabric which needs plastic and alloy

I had a city in which it worked flawlessly and I was generating grate profit with a processor factory and then in this new city the first one I made was always full but producing like 0.1 while when I made another one, that new one started producing full capacity instantly.

I am starting to think that it all has to do with roads, placement and work force, with the problem originating with not enough workers to use full capacity.  The entire game is based on simulating every single car and truck and those are the basis of the problem. Or at least that is what I think.

Don't mean to hijack the OP, but I have just put down a recycling center in my city of 80k, and it's saying that I have 0 of 0 recycling bins collected.

I have centers up in another city and collecting tons of bins.... why does it say 0/0? What am I missing?

    Thanks.

According to a post on the EA forums, the bug with the recycling plants is caused by sending your trucks to other citiies.  As soon as one of your recycle trucks leaves your city, the plant will stop producing.

I think there might be more to it than that. I stopped sending trucks to other cities and did see an improvement.  My plants now operate a few hours a day without bulldozing and replacing them.  They seem to start at 8am and run until noon or so.

Ah, That explains a lot, my trucks went to other cities and picked up stuff, but they just went back and are now parked without unloading the trash! Thanks.

I've been experimenting, successfully so far, with the solution posted here:

I think the other city bit might possibly be because when you introduce recycling to a large neighbor city, they very quickly generate a massive pile of materials for you.  This quickly maxes out the 20 ton storage buffer in your Recycling Center, and that's what causes it to glitch.  Or so I think.  Just don't let it max out, and it should keep working.
