Online mess is already annoying

Just like with Diablo 3 I was not looking forward to the whole online required play model.  I don't like when they take the choice to play how you want away.  I don't play this type of game with other people so forcing the downsides of online upon me is very annoying.  I'm already getting issues with the servers and problems not being able to hop over to empty cities, etc stemming from the server problems.  You can't have crappy, cheap servers if you want to force people to play online.

Most of europe are still having the game released so i imagine the traffic inflow (due to downloading 12Gb for the game) is still going to be an issue for a few more days. It should settle after that.

The download and install went fine and actually kinda fast for me.  However, once in game, I could not invite friends on my Origin friends list successfully to my region...once it said they weren't online (which they were) the next time it showed them online but it gave me a generic "you cannot invite them at this time error".

Same happened to me last night.. I could not receive a friend invite to claim a  city tile.. I was able to watch my friend's region and city (a la ghost mode).. What is really buggy is the synchronization of servers.. i.e friends status is not accurate, city status (grow) is not accurate, play session status is not accurate after a log off. The multiplayer features rely on status accuracy and synchronization. That is actually the weakest link right now..

I doubt its overload, things were going smooth before they went down.  Probably a hot fix.

You forget other countries are still getting the game released. Example - Europe is on the 7th so i suspect issues will occur on that day.

I have to totally disagree with you here, the multi-player aspect of this game is amazing.  While you are constructing your city, everyone else is working on their own city.  It offers real time region simulation and play, something that would take days to accomplish playing by yourself.

Don't get me wrong I will definitely be making my own region and working every city, but for more fast paced and unpredictable play style  multi-play is quite simply an amazing feature for the franchise.

Yes, but by then EA may have fixed some of the problems they where having, so it could be less severe.

Game is based on Origin, and that particular program was giving big issues for all users, not just SimCity users, just saying, whatever triggered some of the errors affected several games.
