Welcome Everyone to my new City journal called MONK. Many of you people remember my previous City Journals, and they are probablly wondering why I'm starting a new City Journal. Well, I'm starting a new one because of many reasons. Here are some of them:
- In the previous City Journals I wanted to create the best (well maybe not the best, but one of the better Cj's here on simtropolis), but it never worked:
Cleres, the History was going to be a good Cj, but I would need too much time to make it grow. Enter the Xirtam was also good, but first I had some small problems, and later I had some bigger problems... Those two CJ's were quite good... In the second one (Cleres) I wanted to break the record of the most pages without a pic from a city and it worked. I had 6 pages. But here, in this CJ I will try to update very often.

This first post is the intro to this CJ, but it will be also a Table of Contents where everyone will find information about the CJ, updates, some mods used, etc. etc. I hope everybody will like this city journal, maybe because the pics will be very nice, or maybe just they will hae an opportunity to see how I create a new region. First I'll have to terraform some region parts, and in the mean time you will see some new cities built.
What else can I say? Well, I had and I have some really big, and not so big problems, but at least here I can try to show you that Sloppet is someone, who knows how to play SimCity 4. Oh, and another very important thig: this will be an European Style region - I'm from Europe, so It'll be easeir for me to make thhose cities in this style. So, let's start this City Journal, and here it is!!

<ahttp://img183.imageshack.us/img183/1037/monktableofcontentsbannertable.jpg align=baseline>

Here you will be able to find out some information about the City Journal.

<ahttp://img183.imageshack.us/img183/7735/monktableofcontentsbannerupdat.jpg align=baseline>

Where can you find the update?? Here you will see everything!

Update 0.0 - The Region
Update 0.0 - Zoning
Update 0.0 - Earlier Pictures

Update 0.0 - New Buildings & Terraforming

<ahttp://img183.imageshack.us/img183/1122/monktableofcontentsbannermods3.jpg align=baseline>

All the mods etc. etc. used in my MONK CJ! Will update as soon as possible here!

    I was wondering when we'd see a new C.J. by you and here it is.I love the Jack in the Box it really gives it a feeling of home and then the european style bats add on to the heavy European feeling in this great update you have given us.I respect fast C.J. writers and I have a feeling there will be more updates compared to your past C.J.s

    I concur.  Looks like you've had fun with all your photo editing.  Sometimes I wonder if that isn't more fun that actually posting the pics... 2.gif

    But anyhow, looks like everyone else is expecting great things again from you, sloppet.  And I agree, your CJs have always been good... so best of luck!

    Thank you all for your kind posts! In this update I'll show you how the Region looks like, and we will begin to discover my work with it till now, and later you will see how the new city is built. And ofcourse we will have to do some more terraforming. This Region is only hand terraformed!

    align=baseline>

    Click on the image to see the bigger picture.

      align=baseline>

    I will start building and terraforming this region from part 1 to part 7 first. Ofcourse I'll start with part one, from which you can see the pictures of how the terraforming is done there, and ofcourse the pictures of some buildings from there.

    align=baseline>

    As we can see, the first parts of the cities are built near the river. I have to say that I prefer building cities by the river, not only because they look better, but also the bridges with some walls created by jeronij are just great! They look very natural. Remember, the terraforming in this part of the region is not complete yet, so if You will have any suggestions, just post them, and maybe I'll terraform it your way!

    align=baseline>

    This will be the bigger town in this part. So far there are only two bridges, but I'll think about building another one. This city will expand to the north, south, and west. Later on (today evenning) I'll show you how did I zone those towns here. And almost for sure you will see some new buildings built. I'm thinking about building a canal, which will connect the north and sout part of the rivers here. But we will see...

    align=baseline>

    This is how the fre space looks like, where the next parts of the town will be built...

    align=baseline>

    And here we see the town lockated in the northern part of Region Part 1. One bridge, but I think the second one will be built here to. This city will expand to the south, but it will be not connected with the south town, hose will be separete towns...

    And here are some more pictures of the towns in the Region Part 1 (this name will be only functioning for a while...)

    align=baseline>

    I hope you like those pictures. The next ones, where I'll show you how the zoning looked like will be shown to you today evenning, but tithout the Poster Edges filter, so the pics will be also good. What can I say? Ah yes, if you liked this update, please post you opinion here, and if not, also post your opinion, so I'll know what to change etc. etc.!

    align=baseline>

    What I will continue it's ofcourse Time To Say Thank You!. But here it will be just Thank you! where I'll that for all the posts, all the comments, and help some simtropolis members, if they would have any problems or questions. The best questions will be posted also in the Table of Contents -first post here, where all you will have an opportunity to see what was the answer and the question ofcourse.

    dhoppeii: Thanks for you post. Well, the first intro update was interesting, but the next ones, including this one are much more interesting (at least I think so...). The graphic effect is really nice indeed, but I will not use it all the time.
    nedal2001: Thanks for your comment! Hope you like the next updates!
    Jerebannus XVI: Thanks for the wishes! I also hope, and I think this will be my best City Journal here. Just look, what an amount of pictures so far!
    Weird: Thats right,poster edges. I'll keep this one up for sure!
    Cjah: Thanks old friend for visiting my new CJ, MONK! Well, excellent surprise you say... Nah, it's not excellent. SCR was excellent, but this will be no SCR, Simtropia, Anduin Valley or every other great CJ's thet I have not mentioned so far. It'll be just MONK,a city journal by sloppet, where you will see the developing of the region. Like I've said, I'm from europe, and this will be a good european style region/city journal. Well, I think that there will be almost no updates compeared with my earlier CJ's (two of them...) because I want to show you some new style, I want to show you taht I'm not only good at building olde style cities, but alsom modern, rural, and peaceful towns, regions.
    Darmok: Wow, another simtropolis legend has come and posted his opinion here! Thank you very much Darmok! Well, I hope it'll be my best! Because even if I have some problems, I will try to show you that is nothing to me, and I can still make something good!
    meinhosen: Well, my first Cj was very bad, it was awful... But the second and third were some kind of record breakers. And I'm glad you like this one so far, Because it has a big potential to become a magnificent city journal. I hope your expectations will be not let down. (you know what i mean...)
    superchad: Hi there superchad! I'm very happy you like it so far.
    sendarrow: Hmm, I don't remember you around here. Well, Glad that you like the pics! Yes, I've used some photoshopping here... I can say you will have one of the nicest SimCity 4 walls in your neighbourhood.
    slann: Welcome to MONK slann! Welcome to ST.com btw. Stay tune for more updates!
    Mikeaut1: More has just come! It' fantastic you like it so far!

    The style you have made your pictures in is great. Very unique.... it almost looks like a comic book. Reminds me of the old 80's horror movie Creepshow...when they take a real life seen and show it as a comic....anyways this looks like a very promissing CJ.11.gif

    I love this CJ, its stunning. Your effects are truly brilliant and create a layer of mystery and a great atmosphere around your senic cities. You have a great eye for creating a natural landscape and for realistically setting a city inside it, they flow beautifully together. Its great CJs like yours that inspire me, I love your style. Keep it up.

    Thank you dear CJ readers for your great suppoort! Here is the updat that I've promised you. You can see here how the zoning was made, and you can see also the new railway bridge. I'm starting to create a good railway nconnection, first I'll start here. A little bit terraforming can be noticed in this part, and ofcourse new buildings in the southern town!
    First I'll show you the zoning.

    <ahttp://img377.imageshack.us/img377/5080/1updatezonin00pictures25vx.jpg align=baseline>

    As you can see on the picture above there is still a lot oplace for some new buildings to build!

    Hey Sloppet. I didn't know you've started a new CJ. I'm impressed by the first couple of updates. I love the comics-style pictures, the effect you use. That was a great touch already in 'Enter the Xirtam'.

    Besides of the editing, also the natural look of your region impressed me (and not only because of the CD-mod, which looks fantastic). I like how you have embedded the town into the terrain. Your use of mid-rise and W2W buildings looks very nice. And you're also using some beautiful BATs.

    Great start so far.

    Wowowow!

    Awesome work, sloppet.  If I haven't said it yet, that small river is great!  Very Alpine.  I really like how you've matched the river, the bridge, the surrounding terrain, rock mods, and buildings all together to form a perfect small town.

    Great work!
