Editing Bat Files?

Using LRM v5, some of my lots have areas that are lit up like baseball fields. Someone suggested getting the lot editor and removing some of the lights. So I went through and wrote down which lots need to be edited to get rid of some lights. I have done a couple thus far, and they don't look so bad. The downside is, I have tried to edit a couple of lots, and they end up disappearing out of my list in the game. Not sure what happens. Seems to work for some and not for others...the file is physically there, but it isn't showing in the game on some after editing.

Which brings me to my question...some of my buildings are just bat files. Is there a way to edit them the same as the lot editor?

Also...going back to a question I had before about the CVS building and the street sign not lighting up...I edited the lot and added a couple street lights to light up the parking lot. I then plopped it down the road from the other one I had so I could test it. Not only did the streetlights work, but now the street sign lights up. So I demolished the original, and rebuilt it...and the sign didn't light up. I demolished the one I plopped down the road, and rebuilt that one...and the sign lit up. Not sure why it lights up in one spot but not another. Found that too with the Dunkin Donuts building. I built one...and there are 2 street signs...and both lit up. I built a second one by accident about 5 blocks away...and only one of the street signs lit up on that one. I demolished it...rebuilt it...same result...only one lit up. Went back to the original, and demolished it, and rebuilt it...both signs lit up. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

No. In some cases there are no .SC4model files. There are ONLY dat files. How do you edit .dat files.

Unless you know how to make a BAT model, I wouldn't touch it. Be sure to keep backups.

The .dat file contains a lot file. If the .dat file is in the plugins folder, the lot will be in the lot editor. A .dat file is only a compressed file that contains all of the relevant info from .sc4model, .sc4desc, and .sc4lot files.

Thanks...yeah I found that out and found the file I needed. So far so good!

About halfway through the list of 20 or so lots I want to edit. It is tedious...as you have to edit...then load the game, try it out...if it works...great...then you have to find all the old lots in the game and demolish and rebuild them etc. Still fun though.
