Just did. It works OK for me. I suspect that you need a membership in the site to see it. Try the front door.

How does this work, Nonny? Do I have to run the game through a program they have me download (Like Steam, Origin, Impulse, etc)? Do I get a "ticket" that I use with some other program or service? Do I download installation files that I can put in my archives and never have to worry about? Is it something where I have to download the game from their servers each time I wish to reinstall?

You pay your money and get a download link. You download the installer, which comes with instructions on how to save it.

There is an option during the install to keep the install folder. You do that and you have a permanent copy of the game installer. I just renamed it for safety. You can install the game on as many machines as you like simply by copying the installation suite.

You get the 1,1,641,1 version which is fully patched and diskless. No nonsense about funny directories and having to log on to the vendor. Just be careful that it installs to Program Files and not "Program Files (x86)". It doesn't need to be there, but if are running Windows 7 it will try to put it there. And no snoopware either.

You will get newsletters, but you can turn them off.

If I did not think that SimCity 4 was so buggy and Passé, I would probably buy it.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

    Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

Passé? For its time it was typical. As for the bugs, blame that on the marketing guys at EA. If they weren't such misers, they would now make the source public so that it could be fixed. Would give a lot of new life to the game, and make it possible to extend some of the stuff we've all been crying about. And don't think that having the source code would make things easy. Understanding some one else's code is always difficult.
