Sims won't use RHW for commute

I started a basic city, a residential zone and an industrial zone separated by a few dozen tiles, connected by a RHW-6C, but the sims won't use the RHW to commute to the industrial zone. I built an avenue between the two zones, and the sims will use that to commute, but only on foot. They won't drive on it. When I dispatch police/fire to the industrial zone from the residential, they use the RHW, so I know the on/off-ramps work, and I can use them just fine in U-drive-it mode. Anyone know what's wrong?

P.S. I apologize if someone already posted this problem on the forum, but I couldn't find the post if they did.

You're probably using the wrong traffic simulator. If the route goes between tiles you need special pieces for the connections to function.

The route stays within one tile of the region. The residential and industrial sections are in the same individual city within the larger region.

Load the Extra Cheats .dll directly beneath your Plugins folder header (no subfolder) and start the game. Open the cheat box and enter DrawPaths then press enter. A set of outline arrows will show the pathfinder's take on your layout. This may take a few minutes.

The converse of this is HidePaths.

Did you happen to run the Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool (an optional item with the NAM) and choose the Park-&-Ride option? This will have the effect you're describing. You can check the NetworkAddonMod_Traffic_Plugin_* file in the NAM folder. If it has a 'ZP' in the name, that would indicate a Park & Ride file. The normal file would only have a 'Z'.

Or possibly you have the wrong left/right drive files for NAM or RHW?

I didn't select park and ride, nor do I have the wrong L/R drive files. Using the extra cheats plugin to use drawpaths worked, though. Is that something I missed in the RHW readme?

Did you use the Neighbour Connection Pieces?

No, I didn't think I needed to since the network didn't extend to the edge of the map yet. It is working now, however. Thanks to everyone for the help.

I was able to use the Neighbor Connection Pieces w/o trouble when I did extend it to the edge, after it started working again.

Did the traffic start after using the connection pieces? Perhaps your original layout didn't provide a complete round trip and using the connection pieces allowed traffic to use it as a u-turn. You might check the Route Query tool to see if that is the case. Just a thought...

No, it was working before I extended it to the edge, and therefore used the Connection Pieces.
