Why aren't sims using the RHW

So... I built a big RHW system within my city and really.. no one ever wanted to use it... even if the parallel avenues are completely packed.. then i upgraded to the elevated highway and everyone used it for commute. Is there a bug with the RHW and how commuters can't use it to get to work.. or is it just me and I should just reinstall RHW..?

Thanks,

And yeah.. haha Havent been back to ST for almost 4 years.. :D

The RHW is a Finicky thing. Most likely you dragged something wrongly or something.

U can try using the extra cheats plugin to enable draw paths and see if you have everything going in the right direction

do sims have a reason to go on the highway,

is all your directions correct, yellow towards the center, wight on the outside,

RHW REQUIRES NAM

sometimes with massive projects like RHW it takes time for the game to calibrate, hit ctrl-3(fast forward) and let the game run for another two or three years

Im on version 5 RHW and my NAM version is 2011/09/04 ... And yes I'm sure the yellow line is on the inside...

Yes they have a reason to go on... When I changed the RHW into the EHW everyone started using the EHW so yes they have a desire to go on.. Plus there is only 1 bridge across town to the industrial zone and before... they would just avoid going on the RHW at all...

Hmm I'm gonna try the drawpaths method.

Thanks. Ill keep you guys updated.

    Here i got 2 pictures

My freight is using the RHW all fine but if it has an alternative it will use that alternative.. (even if it is a street).

Traffic simulator: I'll see it later.. My NAM is a copied version from the plugins folder of another computer so I need to reinstall NAM and Traffic simulator configuration tool. However, on my other computer the RHW remains pretty much cosmetic as well, only the freight trucks use it.

The sims just aren't using it to get to work at all. They probably see the RHW as like a blocked/unaccessible road..

Can you UDI on it? What traffic simulator are you using? Do automata even appear? Remove the neighbor connection and see if that helps, because AFAIK sims will take the nearest job and a NC counts as a job.

DrawPaths. That's the only diagnostic cheat you'll ever need, that is, if you have the Extra Cheats DLL installed.

If it's not a pathing error, it may be a problem with the Traffic Simulator.

Though I'm suspecting it may be a simple layout error; Try connecting your residential area to your RHW in two places instead of one.

Yep there are paths on the RHW.. and I can drive on it too.. For some reason the DrawPaths cheat never work for me. When I type in DrawPaths into the cheat box (I installed the mod btw).. it doesn't even enter.. but that's a different story.

And look.. I connected the industrial zones to the residential zones with streets and once theyre developed I removed them. Before long all of the houses were abandoned because of commute time because the only road to the industrial zone is the RHW.. and it's like they have something against it. (Yes i did let the game run and they just all straight-up abandoned)

I'm on NAM traffic simulator High.

TLDR: Probably has paths on it because automata appear and run on it... UDI applicable. But sims just won't use it to commute. ever!

    DO NOT DO THAT!

All .dll files must be in the <user>\Documents\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Plugins folder without any sub-folder. If you have this, it will work. It does for me. Your problem may be that you spelled the command wrong. You can right click the dialogue box and pick the command you want with your mouse. The command is drawpaths without majescule letters.

press ctrl+x then right click in the box. It will drop down a list of available cheats, if drawpaths is there then everything should be working, just click on the cheat in the list.

I haven't figured out how to turn it off though, when I add "off" it turns off the paths for avenues and stuff, but alot of paths remain.

" Hidepaths" or something like that. That's in the list.
