garbage is simcity's worst enemy

There are cheat codes for utilites to be disabled (electricity & water) and yet there seems to be none for garbage. I'd usually allot the corners of my region to dump my junk and after about a hundred years, my landfill is full to the brim and; well, it just looks ugly. Is there a cheat code to make garbage magically disappear? Help!

No, but there are garbage disposal solutions on the STEX (and on other download platforms, of course) that will make a garbage dump superfluous.

Even without any downloads, you can build waste incineration plants and turn funding to zero - this will remove all costs and their electricity output, but they'll still burn (remove) the waste. They still pollute the environment, though.

If you're using many downloads (especially older ones), chances are also that you have many that aren't modded correctly and produce ridiculous amounts of garbage. (Precisely the problem you are experiencing made me look for the source of the problem years ago, and so I found out about the bad modding of many downloads)

Try : 'The black hole wase co' fron the stex, cheap relable and just use it once per city and :NO WASTE at all!!, you'll need an air purifier within 20 squares as it does give off a little airborne waste.

Put it next to your land fill and eventually the landfill will dissapear down the hole and you can then rezone the land; no need for a messy recycling centre and loads of money saved.

I strongly disagree with even the thread title. Garbage is just what it is, just garbage. It is integrant part of the simulation and the game. You've to deal with it, it's one of the challanges of the game. However, have you ever heard of converters? I mean, you can always convert the garbage into energy burning it, i am so glad even SC3K had this possibility!

I rather enjoy managing garbage in my cities, build a massive central garbage area for every few tiles to which surrounding tiles export to, however if you're wanting to get rid of it completely, this is for you - just use the ordinance - Waste to nothing processor ingame.

Why do you need cheats to deal with trash? DL the super-Waste to energy plant and use it to burn trash. I also use the PEGs smaller plasma plant as well. Cities generate trash, and if you cant deal with it, then you dont know how to play Sc4. I can easily manage cities with ~1.5 million and the garbage they generate, and provide power to surrounding areas by doing it. One of the ideas in SC4 is to learn to plan and organize cities. Anyone can plop a garbage chute and make the trash go to that most magical of places...away. Use recycling yards, ordinances and W2E plants-not outright cheats.

Personally I'm not a fan of cheats, there are lots which has larger capacity but they cost money. Keeps your city quite realistic though.

I find Waste-Energy plants work fine. I just put a few, or several, in my dirty industrial cities and export all garbage to them. Industrial cities also help create Residential and Commercial demand that can be funneled to connected cities.

I use these and adding a landfill is not needed when utilizing them.

Unless you are importing garbage from a neighbor that is.
