I'm creating a new CJ here because I want some feedback from some expert players. I am starting with the capital of Emerald Port which has 500,000 inhabitants.

Emerald Port is a large city built on the Wilfred Bay, and over a large emerald mine. The town grew because of the massive port it became 3 years after the discovery of the emerald mine. After 200 years this is what the town grew into.

Emerald Port's Large CBD, having some very modern and tall buildings

emeraldportnov713133821.png

The waterfront of the CBD where many workers can look out into the bay to see the many cargo vessels coming and leaving the port.

emeraldportoct301413382.png

The coal power plant that produces power for the city.

emeraldportaug301413382.png

Emerald Port is also a major business hub for the entire county, so the city needs some luxury hotels. At the waterfront of course!

emeraldportsep514133821.png

Emerald Port is also home to many factories. The River Haven Railway is just one of the rail companies that transports goods to the region.

emeraldportaug250113380.png

With 500,000 inhabitants the city needs a place to put people. These hi-rises are just some of the residential buildings in the city.

emeraldportsep221413382.png

Most of the citizens, however live in suburban houses.

emeraldportsep281413382.png

The CBD is beautiful at night with many colorful, and bright buildings.

I hope you liked the first update!

Well, I'm no expert, but I have some advice:

    1. Your CBD is varied, but the architectural styles of the buildings do not fit well together. In the middle of it, there are also some low density buildings, which is not very realistic. CBD's are generally made up of a dense cluster of commercial offices, with little space. I'd consider plopping/growing another skyscraper where there is open space/lower density buildings.
    2. There's some repetition, and a bit too much Maxis for my tastes.
    3. Your transition between CBD and suburbs is abrupt. In cities, there is generally a gradual transition between CBD and suburbs using mid-rises and small CS.
    4. I'd suggest using some custom content in your suburbs. Bipin released some great suburban homes (link at bottom of post) and Mattb325 has a lot of great suburban homes, as well (link also at bottom of post).

Mattb325 suburban homes (On BSC LEX)

As I said, I'm no expert, but I hope this helps! :)

I suggest to not download Bipins' houses since they are in HD, unless of course you have a really powerful computer.

Homefrye's American Four Square ( ) might help

Your BAT selection features buildings that look extremely painful to the eyes of a BATter, especially the bottom one, the one on the far left and the octagonal one. . One of the buildigns doesn't have nightlights!

@zahrul3- Good thing I didn't download Bipin's houses then! Also I don't see the problem with the B.A.T.s other with the one without the nightlighting.

@MamaLuigi945- Thank you for your help! :D

    Update 2- Fairbanks

Fairbanks, Everett County's main business hub. Built in 1890, grew from the industrial revolution, and was modernized in the early 21st century. This is what the city grew into.

The skyline in the morning fog.

The Telco Building is the home to the Telco Cable Company, supplying over 1,000 T.V. channels to sims all over the county.

Another power source in Everett County that helps power the region.

Many hotels are on the beach side looking into the ocean.

Some apartment buildings on the outskirts of the CBD.

    fairbanksjun90313384080.png

The suburbs are home to over 1,000,000 people.

Very nice creations so far. I'm surprised about some of the BATs you have. You've got some MASSIVE towers in your inner city there.

Also no one can really be called an "expert". Just experienced, and you definitely are getting experienced based on what's being shown!

And one more important piece of advice. I noticed your grid was still on. Press the 'g' key while in a city tile and it'll turn the grid on and off on your terrain. Having it off makes your images look more pleasing.

    I'm the 'A' to the 'r', to the c-h-e-a-n,
and even though my name means 'old' I'm really quite pimp,
    I'm Archilicious.

@mamaluigi945- I'm very happy about that!

    @citymaster-Thank you!

@follarch-I'm glad that I'm getting experienced! I always forget to turn the grid off. :dead:

    ---------------------------------------------------

Harrington, a large industrial city, is built 5 miles from the capital of Emerald Port. Connected by railways and a small highway. Harrington however is built along a large river and has two sides. We will start with the dirty industry and suburban areas.

Coming into the city you don't see much of a modern area, and many factories look abandoned

    NewCity-May26121338751975.jpg

Most of the citizens live in terrible conditions, but the mayor doesn't get many complaints.

    NewCity-Jun3121338751997.jpg

The army controls the west side of the river. The mayor can't do anything about it because the city needs the income from the army base, otherwise... ... DEBT!

    NewCity-Oct25121338752778.jpg

Of course, its not complete control the citizens are free to leave the west side as long as they don't move out.

    NewCity-Oct7121338752386.jpg

But don't judge a book by its cover, as we see here there are some modern structures.

    NewCity-Oct7121338752205.jpg

Across the river there are better living conditions. Here we see the eco-friendly Telco Stadium!

    NewCity-Oct7121338752646.jpg

I hope you enjoyed this update!

@testuser1234- I always forget about the grid! You will have to wait a little longer.

    @sim_link- I hope not!

@city_master- The city is still in development, that would be why.

    ---------------------------------------------------

Sorry for another teaser, but this city will be very large and will be covering some agricultural areas, which is what this teaser is for!

Very nice work with the previous entries. I do suggest you turn off the grid; remember, just press "G". ;)
