Welcome everyone to tonights edition of Sportscene. We have our usual round-up of todays action in the Simtropolis Football League Norwich District.....

Possibly the game of the day featured leaders Stokesbury United v Maidenwell, who still seek their first win after this goalless encounter. Maidenwell will take great heart from this draw in a difficult match - but the owners, who invested massive amounts of money in the club will be putting pressure on the manager to start turning draws, of which they've had 4 already this season, into victories and start climbing the league.
At the Olympic Stadium, Norwich City returned to winning ways with a 4-0 hammering of Bradwell, and in doing so, returned to the top of the league. In a completely one-sided affair, goals from Huckerby (2), McKenzie and Jonson left the Norwich fans going home happy, although they may have wondered why they didn't score more, considering the number of good chances they created.
Clarendon Athletic moved into second place with a thrilling 4-3 win at Salham. After being behind on three seperate occasions in the game - goals from Jones and Einarsson in the final five minutes sealed a victory which rarely looked likely.
Elsewhere, East Statham secured their first win after a tough start to the campaign, 3-0 at home against struggling Pentney. Meanwhile, Swanton's torrid start shows no signs of getting better after a miserable 2-0 home defeat against Barton Hatch Rovers.

In tomorrows game, Parkstone Rangers - looking forward to their upcoming friendly at New Holland side AFC Arenburg - take on a Norwich United side looking to go level on points with the leaders.

    Todays results and league table.....

You're hurting my feelings... an interchange with no sign 8.gif

hmm.... I don't really know what to say about Clarendon...

Clarendon Water --> What an orriginal name3.gif

The Clarendon Suburbia scares me... I don't know why, it just does... IT'S NICE don't get me wrong... but it sorta reminds me of my grandparents neighbourhood34.gif

Those are some incredibally low taxes!! Where do you get the rest of the money from? You must have some superly-used transit system...

Region views are good, a little small, but now we can finally see all of Norwich! It looks like its time for some farms in some areas...

    Population of 3 296 208? I think you've past Berlin!!

    Great as always35.gif35.gif35.gif

I'm very sorry Matt, I just thought that I would save you for new projects - hopefully there will be some soon. I have a sign for that already - it was one of the ones that I made before you took over I think, and crappy as those were I can't help but feel a certain nostalgia for them....

    Speechless? You? NEVER!

Ah yes, there you go! Back to normal, what a relief. I suffer from a deplorable lack of imagination. However, I thought I did well with 'Clarendon Water' - I was up all night thinking about it.

My suburbs are deceptive. They may look calm and serene - but beneath the glossy exterior is a dark and sinister underworld - Hell's Grannies! Like Hell's Angels except with motorised walking frames.

I do have a well-used transit system - as well as hush money paid to the police by the Hell's Grannies of course.

It is a little small - it's difficult to find the right trade-off between amount in the pic and what it's possible to see. Farms? What are those then.....?

    Thanks for bunnies also!

Thanks! Very appreciated. I noticed you don't tend to build on hills. KUTGW.

(P.S. How big is your region in large city tiles?)

Thanks iguana_labrat - I will build on the hills eventually.....

The region is made up of mainly large tiles and some medium tiles - no small ones. It's the equivalent of 8 x 8 large city tiles - although there's a lot of water to the east of the region there is a heck of a lot to build on if I ever get that far!

    SOCCER SUNDAY

Welcome everyone to tonights edition of Soccer Sunday. We have our usual focus of todays action in the Simtropolis Football League Norwich District.....

Todays match saw us in Clarendon, for Parkstone Rangers v Norwich United. A penalty in the first half from Dave Andrews gave Norwich United an early lead after Andrews himself was brought down by Perry. A spirited fightback from Parkstone saw several chances missed as half-time ensued. The second half followed a similar pattern as Parkstone applied a lot of pressure on the Norwich United goal. First, Williams headed wide from ten yards out after good work down the left by Parker. Then, Parker himself ran the length of the United half and cut inside onto his weaker right foot, but a frustrated groan was let out by the home fans when he sliced his shot well wide of the Norwich United goal. Then, with ten minutes left, United delivered a decisive and killer blow. Parkstone were on the attack, but their corner was cleared by the United defence and sent Parkinson running directly at the Parkstone defence. His pace took him past Perry, who was having a nightmare afternoon, and in on 'keeper Starkey. He skipped round the hapless goalkeeper and showed great composure to slot home from an acute angle. It was rough justice on the Parkstone players who felt they had done more than enough to get back into the game. The Parkstone players looked stunned, and it could have been even worse if Andrews hadn't blasted a last minute chance well over the bar.

Full-time: Parkstone Rangers 0-2 Norwich United

Welcome everyone to tonights edition of Sportscene. We have our round-up of last nights action in the Simtropolis Norwich Cup. There were two matches last night with a place in the quarter-finals of the cup at stake.

Bradwell went down with a battling 1-0 defeat at the hands of Barton Hatch Rovers. An Edwards goal in first half stoppage time was enough to seal victory for the Kelseyheath side, who now travel to Norwich City in the quarter-finals.

In a dire game in Clarendon, Parkstone Rangers and East Statham played out a 0-0 draw with little incident. Deep into extra-time however, the game sprung into life as East Statham skipper Johnson was adjudged to have fouled Parker. Being the last man, Johnson was duly sent off, and things went from bad to worse for East Statham as Parker himself stepped up and drove an unstoppable thirty yard free-kick in off the post. Parkstone Rangers now travel to Maidenwell.

Tonights results and revised quarter-final draw.....

Sorry if you've mentioned this already, but how are you getting the football results? Are you using ESMS+ or another program?

Also, have you seen the SimCity Soccer League? With a league like that, you might consider entering a team.

    Website: SimCity Soccer League

If you follow the link from there to the forums, you'll find there are several more leagues to choose from. The members come from as far apart as Cambridge, UK and Sydney, Australia

And before you knock me for being a Tractor Boy, least we're winning games at the moment!

Norwich isn't dead.... I talked to Andrew a few days ago, and like uncrazycooper said, he's been very busy. I hope he doesn't get angry for me saying this/possibly ruining his plans, but he went on a downloading spree a few days ago. In his own words, ...I can return at my own leisure...

yes, Andrew, congrats on the golden llama - 'tis well deserved. whatever you do, though, don't try to use it to get into the mod hot tub...they threw something which looked like a sickly combination of donkey hair, bunny fur, and llama hair at me, laughing all the way.

as for the journal, i am sure Andrew just has a case of RLS right now...something we all catch every once and a while. I am sure Norwich will be back up and running in no time, as entertaining as ever.

Well hello again my Simtropolis friends!!!!!!!! Sorry for the long vacation, my word haven't you all been busy since I was last here?

First of all, I want to take the opportunity to thank all those who have contributed toward Norwich's Golden Llama award. A copy of my speech to the celebrity crowd at the award ceremony - it is even more relevant here, I feel......

    Ladies, gentlemen, dromedaries......

This is my first visit back to Simtropolis in a while, and what a welcome back! Golden Llama for most awe-inspiring city goes to Norwich.

I feel so humble - I really didn't think it was worthy of such a prestigious accolade - and I say this with real conviction. To be recognised in such a way by your friends and fellow City Journalists and Simtropolites is a real honour.

To win an award is fantastic, but to be nominated for four others is

terrific also. Congratulation to all the other winners - thoroughly

    deserved.

Grateful thanks to all who voted for me, and to all of you who have given me the impetus to continue with the CJ and the encouragement and ideas to make it so successful. Thanks also to the other CJ makers - the other journals are all great in their own ways - the CJ forum is an exchange in it's own right - of ideas and inspiration. Thanks go to all the people who have contributed with the creations via the BAT and lot editor - I have said it on so many occasions that without thos Sim City 4 now would be unimaginably dull!

Special thanks to mattc005, not only for the superb roadsigns he has

contributed but also for being a great sounding board for bouncing ideas and making his own suggestions.

And countless thanks to all the people who have contributed to Norwich's

success by providing criticisms - albeit positive or negative - and helping the journal to stay interesting by livening it up a bit! Thanks to Dirk and all the administrators running Simtropolis, I like to think that I have friends on this site who I would never have had if it had not been for ST, for this I am very grateful.

I'd also like to thank my family and friends, as well as my precious

girlfriend, here in Norwich (the real one!) - who have had nothing to do

whatsoever with the journal or Simtropolis.

    A 44.gif

There, so now you all know how appreciated you are!

About the concerns over Norwich's future - and if it's dead. It most certainly is not dead, and I hope to produce an update sometime soon. How could I possibly quit after an award and such a great response from the city's faithful followers? You all spoil me.

mattc005 - no plans ruined and certainly no anger! Thanks for explaining the situation.

Lots of new names having a look at Norwich, I hope all keep coming back when it get's started again, all your support is fantastic.

Many thanks for the congratulations for the award also, I couldn't have possibly achieved this without all you guys. ( I know, I'm a soppy git. But at least there's not many of us about fortunately).

Thanks again everyone - I am busy and will be increasingly so over the next 8 months or so - accountancy exams and work - but I will try to keep Norwich moving along. A dose of encouragement is always most welcome!

    Your friend,

    Andrew 1.gif

Congrats for your well-deserved Golden Llama Award and good luck for your exams, Andrew.

Norwich is always an inspiration. Looking at your sports scene, I just thought I should really speed up stadium construction so maybe one day a Turry club could join the SCSL... or at least host its first international friendly match -- Turry is so underdeveloped football-wise (and other-wise;-) compared to Norwich! (Booohoo!) 2.gif
