Thanks for all the great comments guys!

nooneatall - thanks for the approval of my road signs! I meant to get the pedriana mod but got sidetracked, I think I'll get it now.........

    Shadow_Assassin - I love the avatar, funny.

MissTonya - welcome to Norwich! The trees are a brilliant addition to any city, so simple but probably one of the most important things to arrive on the STEX for a long while, along with the hedgerows they really add a realistic touch to rural areas.

jacqulina - thanks, your comments are always appreciated in Norwich.

    Thanks again guys.

Just fantastic looking.  I really love the road signs....They really seem to complete what you are doing here.  I lvoed the barn converstion shot.  What  a great looking lot and idea.  The global shot looks incredible.  I do have a question for you though.  I see you have the BSC Farming EP employed, are you also using the No Maxis Farm Mod?  I bring that up because of all the grain silos on your farms.  Anyway, great update, great CJ.

    Regards,

Hey you're back! Hurrah!!! This is looking great. I can't wait to figure out what is happening in that mountain! By the way would you mind posting a regional picture that shows where the coast is in relation to the city? Thanks

    Thanks for the comments......

dhoppeii - I am undergoing somewhat of a self-tutorial in farm building, I've never tried it before. The only mod I'm (now) using is the Pedriana Plants killer mod, the benefits of which will be seen in future updates. Thanks for looking. 44.gif

kb - ketchupy cj ratings, eh? 9.68 is fantastic! Thanks so much!!!! 43.gif

I've always like your exit (or junction, if you will) tours, so I'm glad to see a bit of one here. Thorpe and Great Chesterton are looking nice as well.

Norwich Has It's First Satellite Town - Welcome To Chipping Norton

Hello to you all and welcome to Norwich's latest update. The M2 motorway is continuing it's eastward course towards the region's coastal area, and the arrival of the motorway has heralded the growth of a new town. Chipping Norton nestles on a hill and is served by the M2 and a new motorway, running south, the M20. Chipping Norton is directly east of Thorpe & Great Chesterton, and is just a few miles from the coast, you can smell the sea air!

Here is the M2, just north of Firkin Plantation, a square wood which has been placed here by engineers. The trees are grown on Thistlehurst Common, a south-western borough of Norwich, and brought here. The plantation also extends to the once open area of land to the north-east of Great Chesterton. This will be visible in the latest regional view which will be available soon.....

    chippingnorton16bd.jpg

Junction 4 of the M2 is the convergence of four key roads, the M2, M20, A22 and A201. It is closeby Chipping Norton's electricity sub station and several industrial units. The western half of the junction provides access to and from the Norwich side of the M2.....

    chippingnorton25yw.jpg

The eastern half serves what will be the Bayswater side.....

    chippingnorton39ot.jpg

    Roadsign.....

    junction43bb.jpg

Another sign to provide clarity, to ensure drivers get in the right lane before it's too late!

    junction4divider1tw.jpg

The A22 is this dual carriageway heading through the top of this picture, heading eastward. The crossroads not far from the high-rises sees two minor roads, the A2201 & A2202 head in opposite directions.....

    chippingnorton42hi.jpg

    Roadsign.....

    chippingnorton4bv.jpg

If we turn left (past possibly the region's most dangerous farm, sheer drops of several dozen feet are not common in farmyards, after all), we head into the quiet northern part of Chipping Norton, along the A2202.....

    chippingnorton58vf.jpg

The Church Of St. Genevieve sits below a steep hill, with a narrow street winding above.....

    chippingnorton62jz.jpg

Wellesley House, which was highlighted as a local attraction on the earlier roadsign, is named so after Arthur Wellesley, Duke Of Wellington. The Duke Of Wellington Memorial statue is on the private road belonging to the stately home.....

    chippingnorton75wl.jpg

Wellesley House itself. Tours can be arranged, but must be booked in advance. Please see your Norwich Tourism Guide.....

    chippingnorton89pn.jpg

If we turned right at the crossroads, we would follow the A2201 into Chipping Norton, a town of some 27,000 people. Here are some classy residential apartments.....

    chippingnorton92ga.jpg

Then we head up the hill to a large number of offices and shopping areas. Despite it's modest population, Chipping Norton is an affluent area.....

    chippingnorton106ox.jpg

The A22 continues it's course eastward by some highrises. This could almost be mistaken for Central Norwich, and will help provide a useful halfway house between the commercial hubs of Norwich and Bayswater.....

    chippingnorton117yv.jpg

The A22 continues from here and reaches the junction with the A204, close to Chipping Norton Town Hall, before continuing eastward out of Chipping Norton.....

    chippingnorton129kc.jpg

The A204 follows round the eastern & southern sides of Chipping Norton, forming a ring road around the town. On the eastern side is Oxton, another small village with a parish church.....

    chippingnorton136jz.jpg

The A204 is the route leading to junction 1 of the new M20 motorway.....

    chippingnorton140ot.jpg

    Sign.....

    junction14cx.jpg

Firkin Plantation makes up the western boundary of the town. Some farms.....

    chippingnorton156nq.jpg

Going all the way back to the start of this update, there is one road we haven't explored - the A201 leading to Lower Norton. This is Lower Norton.....

    chippingnorton168nf.jpg

More farms close to the M2 as is heads north-eastwards towards it's destination.....

    chippingnorton179sq.jpg

Chipping Norton, with budget & population data.....

Thanks for looking, regionals coming right up!

Aha! a rivaling city comes into the picture!
Well, Chipping Norton maybe isn't big enough to compete with Central Norwich; however, there's a lot of open space a ways north of Norwich. An ideal place for another metropolis?

About those farms, the black/purple areas are caused by the transparency in the farm's base. As for the fields coming up as plain colour--without any overlays--is because of some way the BSC made the farms; try looking at them at zoom one. The farms loose their textures.

I think that in Norton, however, there are too many highrises in-a-clump, and not surrounded by sprawl 3.gif Noteably frogface's two BATs.

Besides that, the city looks really great. Again, great motorway ensemble--your original interchanges and signs.

Looking forward to another update. A costal one, I presume?

Great update - I really like your transportation network around the industrial sector.  The statue and estate look fantastic.

As far as your region view goes, hmmm, I've never seen anything like that.  It only appears to be one type of field though.  What type of field are those that are blanking out on you?

ooh the coast in beckoning. Does this mean we may see a tacky, overblown, scouser magnet such as Yarmouth or a pretty seaside town like Cromer? I cant wait to see Bayswater. This CJ is coming along brilliantly.

Nice intergange/motorway exit there at Chipping Norton.  Those custom farms made me think I should finally use some myself (despite the installers and all those props). But first, thanks for being the guinea pig who'll find out which farms are affected by this bizarre region view befor I start using them.  22.gif

Great to see Norwich keep on growing by the way. 44.gif

nice, i love those satellite towns. i installed those farms but none of them developed so i deleted them; so i don't know why the region view is like that. i hope you can figure it out though 44.gif

    Heeellooooooooo again.

nooneatall - we are heading a bit north and a bit east of Chipping Norton to work on the first of Norwich's satellite 'big' cities. Perhaps I did misjudge how Chipping Norton would look when I'd finished, of well all part of the learning process. Thanks for the informed comments. 2.gif

jacqulina - thanks to you too, sweets.

sloppet - thanks to you too, er, (can't really call you sweets comfortably with that avatar), er, pal.17.gif

dhoppeii - thanks. I will check out the farms problem when the opportunity arises - see if I can get to the bottom of it.

    aasim45 - thanks.

GB - Cromer and Great Yarmouth (great as they are) weren't really what I had in mind, perhaps later. It is a long coastline to north and south. Thank you for the kind comment.

mike_oxlong - thanks - it may be a while in the making!

Dannato - Welcome back to Norwich, I was starting to miss you...... Guinea pig? I've been called worse! Glad to be of service!

    Amryai200 - thank you too.

    Thanks again everyone.

Lots of nice hedge usage there. I'll consult my Norwich tourism guide immediately, but in the meantime I'll just content myself with driving around. And I've noticed that about the farms in region view and in Zoom 1; I think it's one of the Maxis fields in particular.

oroen - so do you think using some sort of mod to stop them growing might be the answer?

bienefeldt - I will have to look into that - I have toyed with the idea - if for no other reason than to navigate around myself - it's getting so big!

Norwich Takes Advantage Of It's Scenic Waterways - Bayswater Broad Welcomes You

Hello again everyone and welcome to another update. We are moving north from Chipping Norton and to an area around a deep lake set in Bayswater Channel. First of all, we enter the area via the A201 from Chipping Norton. The road passes through some farms and across the main eastern line from Norwich towards Bayswater.....

    bayswaterbroad13wq.jpg

The road continues beyond a water tower and a Shell petrol station before reaching a crossroads with the A2010.....

    bayswaterbroad29kf.jpg

    Roadsign.....

    upton3xf.jpg

Turning right from here, the A2010 leads us into the small village of Upton. *George family history* I named this place Upton as it is the name of the real Norfolk village that my family (dad's side) come from. Just thought I'd share that.....

    bayswaterbroad39re.jpg

More quiet streets in Upton, very close to the edge of Bayswater Broad.....

    bayswaterbroad45sg.jpg

Village Green close to the ferry terminal. This is the only way for residents on the western shore of the lake to cross, except for going back to Chipping Norton and following the M2 around. This is because of the large amounts of wildlife in and around the Broad, the Mayor has prohibited the building of bridges.....

    bayswaterbroad52gu.jpg

Upton Parish Church stands opposite the primary school and library.....

    bayswaterbroad69kp.jpg

    The southern end of Upton.....

    bayswaterbroad79um.jpg

Back on the A201, the road cuts through more farms before reaching this junction and then heads north towards the next village, which will be Banningtree.....

    bayswaterbroad83gt.jpg

    Roadsign.....

    neatonturf7jr.jpg

Neaton Turf is by far the smallest village in the Norwich area thus far, with a population of some 130.....

    bayswaterbroad97tx.jpg

The village with it's ferry terminal. The woods on the shore of the lake provide a peaceful and tranquil setting - favoured particularly by lovers of fishing.....

    bayswaterbroad109nh.jpg

Back around to the southern end of the lake, the busy 4-track railway line narrows to a 2-line route in preparation to cross Bayswater Channel.....

    bayswaterbroad111ik.jpg

The said crossing is not far from Bayswater Bridge, which takes the M2 from Chipping Norton onto the Bayswater Island.....

    bayswaterbroad127gf.jpg

The M2 continues past an industrial estate and towards West Bayswater. Junction 5 provides access to West Bayswater via the A25.....

    bayswaterbroad131rc.jpg

    Roadsign.....

    junction59am.jpg

The A25 crosses the eastern line and to a crossroads with the A250.....

    bayswaterbroad143go.jpg

    Roadsign.....

    westbayswater2pp.jpg

Turning left from here, we turn onto Ferryway Road, West Bayswater's High Street. Ferryway Road Station is here.....

    bayswaterbroad159fp.jpg

The road continues to the ferry terminal (as it's name suggests!).....

    bayswaterbroad168ax.jpg

Another popular spot for fishermen, but only wealthy ones! It makes for an expensive hobby - buying one of these expensive homes just for the privilege of sitting in the flower bed at the end of the garden with your rod in your hand.....

    bayswaterbroad172ob.jpg

Another place for expensive homes, beautiful panoramic views of the Broad available.....

    bayswaterbroad183sb.jpg

Back to the A25, we can see views of both sides of the road. First of all, the lake side - a quiet suburbia with the A25 heading north towards Burgh St. Margaret.....

    bayswaterbroad198ke.jpg

And on the Bayswater side of the A25, a slightly larger nucleus of population with the A250 heading into Bayswater.....

    bayswaterbroad207jl.jpg

Bayswater Broad. Can you spot the famous Bayswater Broad monsters?

    bayswaterbroad216ly.jpg

    Night view with budget.....

    bayswaterbroad225hg.jpg

Thanks, let me know what you think please.
