Ive been playing cities xl 2012 the past few days and my city has gotten rather large. I have quite a large number of high density executive and elite housing. But now everytime I create a new lot for either of the 2 the lot says locked. Any idea as to if there's a limit to these?

Hi,

The only thing i can think of is that the demand for executive and elite is too low. I don't remenber the exact 'in game' name for it, but at the top of your screen there are four buttons to check the status of each wealth class. If you click it you can see what is the demand for that whealth class. From 0% to 100%. If this drops below 50% then people from that whealth will stop coming to your city.

This demand is a result of several factors, including unemployment for that class.

As you say you have a lot of executives and elites, my guess is that you do not have enough jobs for them, resulting in high unemployment which results in low desireability for that type of houses...

Hope it helps

If you need tips to solve the problem, you can ask a new question :D

Yes, that's right. There is no limit, but there is demand to take into account. Or rather, the factor that inhibits demand, which in most cases is indeed unemployment.

However the word 'Locked' sounds a bit strange..... I've never seen it for a residential building. Where does it say 'Locked'? In the info tab of the lot?

Old topic, but just something to add. One of my skilled workers residential area says "Locked" when I click on the undeveloped lots. It can't be that I have too many because the little message keeps popping up saying I need more homes for skilled workers. I'm just going to bulldoze it and try again.

The game sometimes does that; try letting the game run at full speed for a few turns, I find that those lots usually develop if you just give them time.

try creating more jobs suited for elites and executives, when you do, let it run for about 3 or 4 turns and see if that helps, also, check your unemployment rates, like

said you should make sure there is enough jobs, and make sure the satisfaction for those two wealths is good too.

"Locked" Is related to the Lots being locked due to you not having unlocked them, but this is strange as you already have some of these plots.

The way around this is if you have the "Unlocker Mod" , you need to click "Unlock Buildings"

I hope this helps :)

I know why this is happening,

If you clicked on the expert mode button in the options panel, it will unlock everything including elites, and allow you to build them. If you uncheck "Expert Mode" Then anything that was unlocked will be locked (If you didn't meet the requirements) which will result in the "Locked" tab when you click on a house (that was previously unlocked), and also locked option. Also, any lots you layed down will not develop until they're unlocked.

Solution: Wait until you meet the requirements

or use "F1" key, which opens option panel, go to advanced, and check off "Expert Mode."

This has already been resolved. He played with advanced placement on then turned it off before some of the buildings could unlock.
