  1. 1. Have you pre-order, and if so, what version?

Around 9pm-EST last night I had the unfortunate task of bussing to a soccer game on the other side of the city (Ottawa) and was furiously re-freshing the 'ea.com/1/gamechangers' page on my iPhone until **BAM**; I was redirected to www.simcity.com of all pages. I couldn't believe it was actually happening, A NEW SIMCITY...

All that to say, I immediately pulled out my credit card and pre-ordered the "Digital Deluxe" version. I feel a long painful year coming...

So who has pre-ordered and what version?

I'm not going to pre-order it until closer to the release date. Nor will I probably get one of these special editions. I want a physical copy, so as much as I would enjoy the Euro tilesets, I will not pay the extra $20 for them if I am only getting a download. Also, I don't care about the Dr Vu/Maxisman set. Although I loled at the inclusion of Dr Vu, I don't think a superheros/villians set is that necessary.

No, I'm not preordering until I see the game in action. I trust Maxis, but paying for something sight unseen is just flat-out retarded.

I am not much into purchasing pigs in a poke, nor promised computer programs from a company that can't tell quality from third base.

I might pre-order the game, but I'm going to wait until we learn a bit more about it. I will probably get the physical copy. There should be another question that asks: "If you haven't pre-ordered, which version would you pre-order?"

I really want a physical copy, probably the main reason I haven't preordered the "digital deluxe" yet.

I still may, we will see, but would really like that physical copy.

I got a bit excited about it and jumped the gun. But I have the extra cash sitting around so why not? So far the game's new GlassBox engine looks solid; there are few videos out there of actual gameplay footage. By the looks of it, so far, Maxis seems to be going in the way of SimCity 4 vs SimCity Societies and has all but confirmed the support of Modding (also acknowledging sites such as this one as the only reason for SimCity's continuous popularity).

Our choices at release date will be SimCity and a new adition of Cities XL. The way I look at it is, regardless of how good/bad the game is, I will be purchasing the next instalment of SimCity. So why not pre-order while I have the cash...

I was hoping for a physical copy at first and was somewhat disapointed they did not offer one for the Deluxe version but when you really think of it, what is safer? Physical or Digital? I will always have access to my Digital copy, I can't lose it or scratch it and can ultimately create my own physical copy with it...

Wont pre order due to origin. I am also not happy that the euro tile sets are origin exclusive. Nice way to kick europeans in the ass  I wonder how the americans would feel if they had to buy the origin only deluxe version to get the american tile set?

This day 1 DLC is evil to the core.

    £65.00 for Deluxe

    or

    £45.00 for Limited

So £20 for British, French and german tile sets :noway:

I will just wait for the non origin version to be released and will wait for the tile sets to become available seperately or buy a gold edition if released.

Just wanted to address the comments of "I had the cash laying around" or "I'm not handing over my money until I see a quality product"... You do realize, right, that pre-ordering does not require payment up front? I pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe edition as soon as the option to purchase was available. How much did it cost me? $0. A pre-order is simply a commitment to buy. If the game starts to look crappy as more information becomes available then I will cancel my pre-order. However, I am currently totally psyched about the game and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

The way I see it, we need to get as many people to pre-order as possible. A high number of pre-orders at this early stage will just show EA how much of a success SimCity is going to be. However, lackluster early pre-order sales could cause EA to cut back on development funding.

As much as I'm craving to buy the very best version of the game right now, I try to never preorder games at this early stage. Its almost like getting handed a big black box, which you only know a little bit about whats inside. Should you get? Or not? Right now I'm going to hold off on preordering. (Also, is it really that much $? I could buy a brand new game on xbox/ps3/or PC for much less!)

I am not sure if I want superheroes. I would be willing to pay that premium if an extra manual, guide, art book, or concept/educational booklet (like what came with SC2000) were also included.

Haven't pre-ordered yet. I'm all for additional goodies, but I'm also in favor of boxed versions just for collectors sake when it comes to games I'm really looking forward to. So such a digital deluxe option, sort of messes with my mind :P. Waiting till closer to release to see what I'll end up doing.

I'm probably going to go with the Limited Edition or Collector's edition physical copy just for the fact I can't stand the idea of having to download a ton of data.

I'd also like it because I would set it up on my mini-network so me and my boyfriend can both run it on our computers at the same time, I plan on turning him into a Sim junkie like me.

SimCity is still being developed, just because something isn't in the game right now, doesn't mean it won't be in the final game.

I doubt I will need to pre-order this game, I'll probably be able to buy it the day it's released if I feel that compelled. I definitely hope they come up with a better option for the physical copy though because there is no point in paying $20 more for a digital version and having to make my own back-ups and what not.

Pre-paying for a game that doesn't even have a set release date? No thanks... and certainly not from EA!

Personally, I would rather buy the cheapest version and get extra buildings as DLC.

I agree. This was the logic behind my pre orderingthe dde version. If they see we are committed to this project it'll make them put more effort into it. I don't buy any other video game series so for me the cost was more negligible than for gamers in general. I hope they will live up to expectation, for if they do, this could be the new 2000. Well, can't say it can't.

I will need to wait to preorder the game until I have enough money saved up in my checking account. I would rather preorder the no-superhero version at a discount (as opposed to Limited Edition) but I will preorder before Summer.

I preordered Anno 2070 the day before release with the discount and bonus.

It seems odd that the 'limited edition' is the lesser version... Then again I guess I'm no game marketing guru?

Well, limited does mean limited. They are only offering a limited amount of content I suppose...

I pre-ordered the game on Origin. The purchase appeared in my bank account, then disappeared. Did this happen to anybody else?

The idea that the game is available for preorder over a year before scheduled release is absurd. Hell, the fact that we have an exact date over a year before scheduled release is absurd.

Me? I'm not preordering anything, nor am I buying it after it comes out. Beyond the obvious issues associated with all modern PC games that make them unappealing to me (DLC, DRM), I'm just not into SimCity anymore anyway. It takes up way too much time, and I have better things to be doing.

I haven't pre-ordered yet, but I want to. I'm looking at the download-copy Limited Edition. Hopefully, I won't HAVE to use Origin. I like that it's apparently the same price as the standard edition that will most likely be on sale at release time.

I'm in the process of saving up for the Digital Deluxe, but even then, I won't pre-order it until maybe a month before it comes out.

Right now, we've only seen what's being simulated and not actual gameplay, which is the main reason why I haven't pre-ordered.
